why the hell is Dell the representative of the apple vs pc war? My ASUS laptop works great as a mobile work station and plays every game i throw at it for $1000.
All you have demonstrated is that Apple users don't know how to shop around for a bargain.
But to say we have a "Democracy" as a government is in fact a wholesale distortion. The "people" have very little effect on the national level. The fact that I voted for a congressman and a senator gives me very little power over said congressman or senator. I've written my congressman David Wu (D) Oregon on 5 different issues this year and he goes on sending me form letters telling me my way of thinking is wrong. Never mind he ran unopposed.
This is how a Representative Republic works, you vote for someone who "promises" to do things in the best interest of his constituency. That's all.
its not that i don't understand, its that i think its fantastically silly that my girlfriend's wireless wii controller requires to be connected by a wire to a wireless wii remote. anyone who doesn't see this as completely crazy has no place to lecture on understanding "technology".
Clearly it is YOU who doesn't understand that "technology" has been leaving cables behind for controllers for quite some time.
Was this really necessary? It looks to STILL have a wire necessitating connection to the wiimote. Why switch from a completely wireless gamecube pad for that?
What you seem to not understand is that since the XNA creation suite for Xbox and other development platforms may be dependent on a windows OS, the windows OS can be run on a range of computing platforms from PC to yes even a Mac. Windows is not hardware dependent.
To develop for anything for an apple product you need an investment of both hardware and software.
We aren't talking rocket science here. This is pretty basic. The thing I don't understand is as much as/.ers seem to hate closed platforms, they seem to adore Macs to the point of defending how closed they really are.
Where you drew that conclusion from my text is beyond me. Let me restate for clarity...they were all plain white apple stock issued headphones, which is how you can make an educated guess that they are using some form of apple issued music device without me searching each individual persons pocket.
I just cant buy Apple for reasons too numerous to mention, but the major one lately: Someone save me from your fanboys! I sit on the commuter train and everyone has the same plain white headphones stuck in their ears. I walk by a Starbucks I see table after table of people dressed by old navy sipping coffee and blogging on their plain white macbook.
I saw one the other day that someone put a Che Guevara sticker on and it suddenly became very clear...Apple's vision of 1984 is finally here!
These types of "forced conformance" cause me to vote with my wallet. People think people are insane for switching brands because of what they call "minor problems". I fully understand that my refusal to give them my dollars combined with a quick, but professional letter explaining my purchase history and what I am purchasing now and why is the only language large corporations understand besides legalese.
It is because people refuse to stand up for themselves and feel "forced" to comply that you get these crazies that go off about Microsoft forcing people to upgrade to vista over XP etc. You simply aren't forced to do anything, you force yourself to comply. You are allowing them to shape the market through supply rather than through consumer demand.
This is an example of the overall pusification of America. People want the government and corporations to think for them, provide for them, bail them out when they fail.
I've pretty much been vocally anti-Obama for about a year and a half, and I hate glossy screens, and macs too for that matter, since we are spouting irrelevant asides in replies.
yah, that was led by Lincoln (R). Interesting aside, most Dems I talk to today seem to claim "He would be a Democrat if he were alive today".
Incidentally I'm neither R or D, I just don't like the partisan lynching that's going on.
From wikipedia: "Using the stock market as an unofficial benchmark, a recession would have begun in March 2000 when the NASDAQ crashed following the collapse of the Dot-com bubble. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was relatively unscathed by the NASDAQ's crash until the September 11, 2001 attacks, after which the DJIA suffered its worst one-day point loss and biggest one-week losses in history up to that point."
Also NBER President Martin Feldstein said in 2004:
"It is clear that the revised data have made our original March [2001] date for the start of the recession much too late. We are still waiting for additional monthly data before making a final judgment. Until we have the additional data, we cannot make a decision."
Interesting way of saying "we are clearly wrong, but we aren't going to commit to it".
And Finally, how could someone who hadn't by March even passed his economic policy until June of that year.
Interesting further quote from the article on his economic policy Bush inherited a faltering economy from Clinton, the economy having grown only at a 1.1% annualized rate over the previous three quarters from March 31 of the first year of Bush presidency [15](see Early 2000s recession). Bush had his tax cut plan approved by Congress in June, proposed early as a response to the economic decline and, despite the aftermath of the 2001 9/11 attacks, managed to keep the country out of recession[neutrality disputed] (defined as two consecutive quarters of decline in the size of the economy) during the time he and his economic policies were assuming more control over the economy.
I may not like the man as president, but I refuse to make him the magic bullet for all the problems with this country.
But if we can't blame the video games...someone is going to blame my parenting skills! Next they will want me actually monitoring my kids to insure they don't see boobies on the interwebs instead of banning them from the sites!
Oy I'm late...
Am I the only one who wonders with IE removed how would your average idiot download a browser of their choice (without command line utilities like FTP etc)?
Or are we talking solely the opportunity for the OEMs in EU to load a browser of their choice in lieu of IE?
Every OS in the world comes with a web browser, how is this different?
I am fairly fanatical about Microsoft. I enjoy just about everything they make.
I hate just about everything Apple makes.
Lets see how fast i get modded Troll.

That's right, everyone knows that Jesus uses a blackberry.

then you'd better come up with a definition of what you mean by "well-regulated," and who checks my "regularity."
While I don't want to be the person to check your regularity, I might recommend a diet that is high in fiber.
"I was elected to lead, not to read."
Competition spawns creativity and innovation, it doesn't destroy it.
if 80% of the browsers wont support it (IE) then its hardly a "standard", its more of a "wishlist".
If you want to know, go back and read the context of my reply.
And yes, music sounds much worse on an ipod than a creative zen x-fi

I'm guessing the real root of both of your problems is old graphics drivers, unless you really seariously prefer IE over Firefox?
There, fixed it for you.

Hugs and kisses.
Someone tell the auto industry that they are evil bastards because they offer base models for cheaper prices than their fully loaded models.

If Bush had started or "escalated" Vietnam he would have been hung. Think about that while you sit in your bias stew.
Vietnam War: Kennedy (D). (makes iraq look like a walk in the park)
The Korean War: Truman (D). (A force retreat, some people call it a victory because they only took over most of the country)
World War II: Rosevelt (D). (more dead americans than any war in history)

That great economy was already plummeting before Bush took office...btw.
