    Well the fact that a 64-bit processor can do 64-bit calculations in the same time as a 32-bit processor of the same clock speed can do 32-bit calculations, I'd say it's hardly something worth 'getting over'.

    If I were participating in moderation I'd mod you up right now. That's a damn good question. What is the fucking point?!

    ident is a complete waste of time. The majority of IRC users are dialup, dsl, or cable and hence have control over the strings returned by ident requests. I personally run a daemon called 'mmidentd' which always returns a random ident string, plus in most irc clients (BitchX, for example) you can use a command like /ircuser to set it anyway.

    bleh.

    It's pretty obvious isn't it? Without some form of law enforcement, there would be no disincentive for breaking the law. Of course, the law isn't necessarily what is right, but it is intended to represent a means for protecting the innocent from the malicious.
