don't worry. I've got a dirty enough mind to go around. all in good fun. (and besides - unless your mind is a *little* dirty, even *my* comment seems harmless.)
actually, we have frequency too. we find it a lot harder to play (partially because it's all techno tracks which don't lend themselves to our ears.)
it can be frustrating when you can't really pick the beat apart as easily as you can on Amplitude. Fortunately, my wife not only has no problem with video game violence, etc, she thinks it's great!
perhaps. but quite frankly, it's little different from sitting around playing checkers together. He's looking for co-op games to play *with* his wife. Obviously it's important for both of them to spend time together working together rather than competing with one another. I personally would find this a far better use of time than, say, going out drinking. (something my wife and I do go out to do on occasion). By the way, in your bio information you spelled "sexist" "sexi*e*st". Freudian slip?
This isn't 2 player co-op by any means, but it's a fun game to play with two people in the room. My wife is seriously addicted to it (though we haven't played head to head yet...I'm afraid I'd whomp her, which always leads to her getting completely sick of a game). that issue, btw, is one of the reasons various Tetris's are great - they have handicap mechanisms where I can play a few levels ahead of her and she can still be competetive.
purchased this game a while back with exactly this scenario in mind. My wife still declines to play it. It's weird...she loves sci-fi and fantasy, but the idea of an RPG of any sort strikes her as "over the geek-line". any other suggestions here would be *greatly* appreciated.
I'm one of them. for several reasons - one person said "in the grand scheme of things, $20 isn't very much to pay. that's what it'll cost to get the original and then the extended later" - on the other hand, why buy them *now*? a) that's $20 I could be spending on something else I'd rather have (instead of buying the same thing twice) and b) I've heard rumors that the "final" release of a box set is going to have even MORE extra added than all three of the extended editions are going to have by themselves.
he was probably a US guy - in America, we call a second year of the same show a new "season" of the same "series". Ergo, in the UK, it was two series and then the book, and then in the US it would have been called one series two seasons long and then the book(s).
actually, satan isn't really developed any more. there's another program now - don't know if this one is still being developed either, or whether the code was forked, resurrected, or what - but the successor to satan was called "saint". I liked that one.
no one takes bloggers as an "unbiased news source" to begin with - and the people are free to advertise in any way they want, right? that means if they really do think it's crap, they're either a) going to say so or b) stop accepting it and stop writing about it. their only form of compensation is merchandise, so I'm more inclined to trust them than someone who says "oh, yeah, I LOVE Dr. Pepper! that's why they paid me $30,000 to appear in this commercial!". This blogger is saying "I LOVE Dr. Pepper! That's why I'm happily accepting crateloads of stuff to tell you about them!". IMHO, (I know, no such thing) this is actually a bit more sincere.

blah. ah well. I suppose it was too much to hope for to be COMPLETELY happy with the movies....
unfortunately, this is a "failing" of angband in general. ironically, this was the first piece of open source software I was ever exposed to, and yet it's a pain in the ass to find pre-built for linux. I can tell you that there are debs for both angband and zangband, so if you'd like to alien them from debs to rpms, you could play either of those. if you're not familiar with the angband phenomenon, I'd recommend that as a starting point anyway.
nope. we still hate the MPAA. They're screwing with a lot of things in the world of entertainment. However, we love Tolkien, LOTR, perhaps Peter Jackson, and movies in general. Just because I hate the RIAA doesn't mean I should stop listening to music, does it? sure, in this case, I have to pay money and support the MPAA. but I'm also supporting someone who made something I really like. Would you rather I go download a pirated copy of the movie and really prove their point? So yes, today movies are great. they were great yesterday too. today the movie industry blows goats. same as yesterday. PLEASE don't confuse the two. If I decided I was sick of it and couldn't be bothered with movies anymore, I would no longer give a rat's ass about the MPAA. They could do all they wanted because I would no longer be affected. it's precisely BECAUSE I love movies that I'm so irritated with what they're doing.

there's a good reason you're not wondering what else happened. NOTHING else happened. Not only do the books pick up immediately after each other, the first movie stopped half a chapter into the second book.
all things considered, I've been very happy with the movies - a reaction which shocked even me. (especially me)
partially, it's been due to the reaction from people I know who haven't read the books - instead of "now I've seen the movie, I don't need to read the book", which is what I normally get, I'm now getting "Hey! I want to read the books! what's the best version to buy!". it's impressive when a movie sparks interest in the book, rather than killing it.
that said, I'm pleased with Harry Potter for the same reasons. Even though the tech bubble burst and things are coming to ill with DRM, et. al., this is a glorious time to be a(n) (adult) geek.
When first I saw the trailer my fiancee was near the end of the fellowship. I then commented that I would do everything I could to prevent her from seeing the trailers until she'd gotten into the second book. When she said "hey, tell me they didn't put gandalf in the trailers!!" I knew that the time had come and we could go once more and enjoy movies.
oddly, I'm a book zealot - and even with all the changes made to the first movie, I loved it and felt it did the best possible job of bringing the story to the big screen.
I can see that a lot of people are missing the point of the project. this is not "hey, I'm on mars, let me browse the 'net" stuff. this is "okay. we need to drop 50 or so data gathering probes, which need to send their info back to a central broadcast point, which will send its info to a satellite, which will send it back to earth" stuff. The reason they're developing open and standard data protocols for this should be obvious - if you craft it from scratch (as they had been doing previously) it's REALLY expensive. I found "the Interplanetery Internet" to be a bit of a misleading title myself at first. but considering that the internet was itself a research tool first and formost, this is only because of prejudices already in my head.
even if it IS expensive to create....this show has a HUGE fanbase and it's got ratings through the roof, and not with any qualifiers like "for a cable sci-fi show". It seriously has ratings many mainstream shows would be envious of. WRITE people. WRITE IN. I'd like to see Sci-Fi say "okay. we know you've got season five and six plotted out. scrap season six, rewrite it so it wraps up the show." and then let them do the two more years. and the wrapup doesn't have to END their relationship or similar...just maybe put them on a footing with say episode two - only without anyone chasing them down. and now we start going from THERE, if anyone ever wants to do anything. perhaps in the form of movies a la B5.
I too, have User Friendly to thank for my sluggy freelance addiction (sluggy.com) I've actually gotten to the point where I *prefer* sluggy to User Friendly. They just finished a MAJOR story arc, so now is another good time to start reading. of course, if you start from the beginning (As with all internet comics) give them a litttle patience. They take a few weeks to get up to speed.
I don't know about the first guy, but based on the fact that internal beta is on my PC right now to my left. and it's using Gecko.....I've been using it since I started here...
the first Dirk Gentley book... the big project was a piece of software that would take any set of numbers and convert them into a song... the Japanese were supposedly using it to create Anthems from their financial books.
I used to tell my parents that "of course you can set up the computer on your own". because everything on the back of the box was a different shape. and the mouse and keyboard (on their systems at lease) were color coded. so it's no biggie. you just keep plugging until it FITS. now, it'll be the opposite. of course you can set up the computer. because it doesn't matter where you put the plug. they're ALL right.
don't worry. I've got a dirty enough mind to go around. all in good fun. (and besides - unless your mind is a *little* dirty, even *my* comment seems harmless.)
Also, playing with your spouse is a lot of fun.
Yes, I have found this to be very much the case.
she enjoys it as well.
