    Well more or less. Its no broad invalidation thats been done. But the line has moved. So if someone should go to court and try to get it invalidated it might work to get it invalid.

    But that cost alot of money. And its not 100% sure that it will work. It depends on the court what they say. So it can also take along time to get it invalidated. The owner of the patent will probably make sure to draw it out so expect several years of patent ligiation.

    So people just mostly wait for patent to expire.

    Saying that Clinton could not beat Trump is kinda strange given that it looks like she will do just that.

    Clinton looks to win the total vote tally. She just lost some important swing states that gave Trump the electorial win and this the presidency.

    This is the second time this happend in recent decades and its the second time a republican become president becaus of it.

    Might be good if USA removed the electors and instead just counted the total votes and not made it so that some votes are more important then others.

    This is not a patent case. Its a copyright case.

    It was not Oracle who open sourced Java. It was Sun.

    Oracle later bought Sun. They did not really get any worth from it. So now they use the normal way for those that can't innovate - they sue those that make money and hope they get lucky.

    As for Java sucking - thats was mostly Microsofts doing; for having a version that was incompatible with the other versions.

    As people in sweden speak swedish and Slashdot usually only link to english news sources.

    So swedens media articles about it are not linked too.

    As for the decision I think its good that there are laws stopping not needed public survelliance.

    No its a technical struggle.

    The UNIX philosofy is to make many smaller programs that does one thing and does it well. From a bug point of view that been godsend; smaller programs are easier to debug and test.

    Large complex programs will always be a problem. Like webb browsers and systemd. The more complex a program becomes and the more it does the more complex is it to write secure code for all situations.

    You only run anti-virus on Linux mail servers.

  11. First 2 seasons they where based in texas. Its mirroring the fact that Compaq was an off-shoot from Texas intruments. Compaq was the first company that reverse engineered the BIOS.

    So even if you remove all places where cities may have influenced it - nothing change - the world is still getting warmer.

    So scientists has looked at this and the status is unchanged. The world is warming.

    Actually no we won't. The cost of flooding and storms will cost more then the normal BNP growth if nothing is done.

    So the world will be less good off, if we don't do anything about climate change.

    Oracle did not own Java when Google made android. Oracle bought Java later.

    Old owner of Java - Sun - had no problem with google.

    So problems are with proprietary software. New owners - new rules - new problems.

    Yes they use Copy on Write. But they use the hardware bug Rawhammer to flip bites without CoW being triggered.

    So its really an escalation of a hardwarebug. So it its not restricted to Linux. Should be able to affect any software running on a multiuser system - regardless of operating system.

    Basically any insecure hardware system affected by Rawhammer are not safe to run multiuser software - since it can be used to manipulate the system.

    Yes the CO2 sink works better today.

    Higher levels of CO2 also means plants and trees grow more and can thus take up more CO2.
    Human activity - using wood for houses and furniture - also act as a CO2 sink.

    Sadly we let out more CO2 then we store so the atmosphere CO2 levels has been increasing for along time.

    However that also is a hidden challenge since if we manage to get CO2 pollution under control, the sink will become less good and we gonna need to lower our CO2 footprint even further down.

    If Hillary Clinton had been a young male programmer who implemented a skunkwork hack to be able to BYOD so he could work more efficiently and not have to use the IT departments bad solution.

    People here would utter praise.

    Now she is getting alot of slack for doing what any respectable programmer would do, if forced to use bad software from the IT department.

    Come one people stand up against the man who forces people to use bad equipment and software.

      And the gamers today play alot of a bit older and more popular games.

    Well they got cheap loans and noone said no since it was in euro and the consensus was that the whole EU stood behind the euro so loans to goverment was safe.

    Had Greece had their own currency, they would never have gotten so many loans and thus the mistake would not had happend.

    The sadest part is that Greece only was accepted into the euro by "creative" bookkeeping. They should never have been let in. But the leaders of EU wanted so many as possible members nations to join the Euro that even greece managed to squeze in. If the rules to join had been more clear the greece tragegy would never had happen.

    It could have been avoided if EU had insisted on sound economy to join the Euro.

    I agree, expecially since Northern ireland voted to leave the EU. Why rejoin EU the backway by joining Ireland.

    Makes no sense.

    Only London and Scotland voted to stay in the EU.

    For a 20% quora you need a majority of the votes or 10+% of the total votes. So 7.7% is 77% of the votes needed to be the majority of the 20%.

    No Elon killed Nokia. The decision to go to microsofts for operating system and not go for Android was a huge mistake.

    Nokia had a strong trademark and could have become the #1 player in the Android market. And thus keept on as the #1 mobile phone seller. After the 2011 letter to the employers, noone took Nokia seriously and their market share plumbered.
