    Never read such a stupid article. If oracle has won; alot of open source projects had been dead in the USA. In EU they had lived on since there APIs are not copyrightable because of interoperability.

    Now they can continue to live even in the US.

    As for the point that this makes it possible for people to steal open source code. It wont. Since it's always been possible to take open source code and reimplement it as closed code. Its never been forbidden before and thus this won't change that. APIs has never been seen as protected by the software industry before and its a sad state that USA has changed that.

    Acutally it says European region. Tajikistan was a member of Sovjet but Tajikistan became free in 1991. The country selected to be part of WHO European region as before when part of Sovjet.

    So because of historical reason several old Sovjet former republics are now members of WHO European office and not the asian.

    He did run for election to stop this type of corruption. Iceland was probably the nation that suffered the worst from the bank meltdowns nearly a decade ago. So its a big thing on Iceland. In most other nations it would have been a blip on the radar and nothing would have happened. But on Iceland its an important issue.

    Yesterday it was a "small" demonstration where little less then a tenth of all of icelanders was demonstrating. Ok, so it was like 25 000 people, but with a population of only 330 000 its a big deal. The politicians take notice and have to act.

    In China any mention of Panama is forbidden and I doubt Russia will change much for this. Belarus is though another place where this might affect the leadership.

    It was just commersial newspapers. Public service companies was not targeted and their web sites was not down during the attack.

    Things that are patentable (functional devices or systems) are not copyrightable (creative works of expression), and vice versa.

    An object (like a car) can be protected both by copyright and patents.

    Today in many nations around the world: A computer program can be both copyrighted and patented.

    Code is both speach and math. Math is a subset of speach.

    The Berne Conventions says copyright should be at least 50 years. It may be longer but 50 is the minmum. I

    Android is open source so its a target for those that hunt for fame. iOS is closed source so its harder to find the problems and thus they get less publicity since most are fixed internally.

    In reality Android is more secure since its open source and all errors is easier to find for fame hunters.

    End users pay for it when they buy the product. Usage is free for end customers. Selling products containing a patent is not allowed and yes you must pay all patent holders for it - even if the patent was included in the product by a

    Example: Companies makes a produkt and sells it for $100 and the patent owner P demads 5% or $5 per unit.

    Company B makes the product itself and pays $5 per unit to patentowner P.

    Company A wants to make similar produkt as B and buys some items from B for $10 (containing the patent so P gets $0.50 per unit) and make the rest themselves and assembly them and sell its produkt for $100 on the market.

    Should really patent owner P only get $0.50 per produkt from B when A pays $5 per unit in patent fees ?

    No B needs to pay patents fees for added value and thus need to pay $4.50 per unit to P.

    Actually the reverse is true. We are slowly going into a coming ice-age. Been at it for about 10 000 years.

    Thus the warming of the planet is very perplexing since the natural state for our time is for the planet to get colder until we get an new ice-age. But something has changed. We human has terraformed the world.

    No, it won't work. You can't really expect to get away from breaking EU law in the US.

    EU companies will take all business.

    Either they break US law or they break EU laws.

    Last time something like this happend. Google left China.

    Now the corporations has to decide. Leave the US or leave EU.

    You won't be a problem. EU will just block access to your website.

    Doesn't matter if you are Microsoft or Amazon. As long as you are an evil corporation not abiding by the EU laws you will get stopped.

    No I think its the US Govement who need to decide if they want international companies or only domestic.

    They cant force US law into all other countries around the world.

    If they want international companies, US Goverment can't make laws that forces their international companies to break other countries laws.

    EU Supreme Court dont like that and now forces the companies to follow the law.

    Won't help. As long as they are US companies the US Courts think they can force them to divulge information stored in EU.

    From an actual court case still active against Microsoft.

    That is how it is today.

    And it does not stop the judge from claiming they need to export the data från ireland.

    The only way to prevent it if Microsoft sell all holdings in their foregn compainies and cease all business in all countries outside the ISA.

    This affects all multinationals. They have to sell and go purely national to not be cought in this madness where in every country a judge can demand every data from any subsidary in another country.
