..and it doesn't make much sence. "Sience", many argue, is giving us "unnatural" ways of surviving and carrying on "low quality" genes. I disagree. In a larger scale our advances in sience are minimal. Noone is complaining about our ancient ancestors getting "unnatural" advantages against predators just because they learned to use fire and tools made of stone or wood.

Essentialy we're in the same kind of situation. A tiger uses it's teeth to kill and stripes to hide. These special characteristics help the tiger survive and breed. Our special characteristic is our brain. As I see it: Anything our brain helps us with is natural. Even if it means we'd become wheelchair sitting, websurfing, tubefed weaklings who'd die in an power outage. Shit happens! The dinosaurs died... Maybe because they became to specialised? The same could happen to us. The univers wouldn't care less.. :) .. So enjoy your life as it is.

Is it racism to point out the simple fact that 20 out of 20 9-11 terrorists and the famed Shoe-Bomber were those fellas with more consonants than vowels?

Suposing that by the "more consonants..." thingie you mean they had "funny sounding names".. It's not racism to point that fact out. It's just a simple fact. But to harass people because of appearences ONLY is prejudice and racism.

Why do you think bil Laden hates Americans. Do you think he hates them because he has met all of them had a nice talk to each and every one of them and come to the conclussion that Amercans suck and should be killed? I can assure you that he most probably has not made such a thorough investigation! He's being the same kind of fool like every other racist who judges all by the knowledge he has over a few. He probably has a problem with some imperialistic pricks but does the stupid mistake on blaming everyone in the same group. That's prejudice and racism and it's especially common in times of uncertainty.

There are to many CowboyModerators out there (no pun intended to CowboyNeal) who just shoot from the hip. I think that one major reason for this is the fact that many users think the mod system is broken.

I've always been opposed to the notions of "it was better before", "I miss the good old times" and so forth. But now finaly I am too getting there. I've been reading /. since 1998 and will probably continue, but I'm becoming more and more dissapointed.

I miss the time when you could yourself mark you post Offtopic by inserting an "(OT)" mark in the subject and the users mods understood that "Ok, it's marked offtopic" and let it be. If some users were interested they continued the thread, now what is wrong with that!? That was a perfectway to have spin-off discussions. I mean if you are discussing Transmetas Crusoe it's easy to start speaking of other processors and suddendly you are talking Z80-assembly!! What the hell is wrong with that!?
