    I think that will fall through the first time some one attempts to charge $1,000 or $2,000 for legal adoption papers that (with vaccines included) don't go over $250.

    I was too lazy to read TFA, but there is a big distinction between selling pets and adopting pets. In one you just pay a small amount for the paperwork, covering vaccines and the like.

    Even if pet selling was illegal, adopting should still be an option. There are quite a few pet shops that only sell supplies and refuse to support the Puppy Mill market, instead these host regular foster home gatherings where you can adopt pets and give them a proper home.

    So, FireFox Add-On development and maintenance should become a full time job?

    What about some one developing something "useful" and dropping it there for the community and not feeling forced to update it every 3 months?

    What about FireFox developers actually treat their Add-On environment as a platform and ensure backwards compatibility? Or would you feel fine if every Linux/Windows/Mac/Androdi/iOS piece of software had high chances of breaking up every 3 months due to patches?

    And thats just add-ons in their repository, what about a shop that develops their own internal add-ons, or worse, commissioned the development of one? You may say this means the development team simply has to update the add-ons, but thats an unnecessary waste of resources, specially if they going to do this every 3 months. In the case of commissioned work, you really throw the ball since you are forced to spend extra money.

    In some cases, perhaps.

    It's been ages, but as a child I recall the entire school hunting down codes to unlock characters and special modes as soon as possible. In some cases it was because we would rent the game and not want to waste time unlocking that stuff all weekend long, we wanted to play with the features, not waste time unlocking them. Another case is just people that don't find that stuff meaningful and similarly to the above group, just want to play with the stuff.

    One thing I tend to hate with unlock-able characters in fighting games is that I rarely play these games on my own (or online) and only pull them out when friends are over. I tend to feel literally forced to unlock everything that is locked playing a single player mode I don't enjoy. This game may be a 3DS game, technically being single player, but from what I hear the real fun seems to come in the form of WiFi coop, so the situation may apply.

    So this may be bad news for some people that want to buy a used copy, at the same time it may also be an encouragement for others.

  8. Re:That indicates a really linear game design on Capcom Announces Unreplayable Game · · Score: 1

    Very wrong. The game is entirely based around replay ability, to the pint the game itself needs no saving, it's an arcade game. The save file just keeps high scores and feature unlocks.

    One important thing missing from the summary:

    This is an arcade game were the save file only keeps high scores and unlocked content, similar to unlocking characters in a Street Fighter game.

    Although some may prefer to unlock everything themselves, I can also see many would love to buy a used and fully u locked copy of the game over a new one.

    This instance of the feature does not deserve any real doom crying.

    I don't think Mega Man 8 is a good example since it is a game designed to feel old.

    The article/summary is also too vague and looks at only one side of the coin. There are many reasons for people to desire new old games.

    Some literally just want to go back in time and relive those gaming days as if technology had never improved. For them something like Mega Man 8 is perfect.

    Others want those beloved characters to stay alive or return in new adventures with today's tech. For these players games like Zelda Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime are the way to go.

    Then there are those that want things to retain their original form but with faster pace or up-to date visuals. For these games like New Super Mario Bros Wii or Super Street Fighter IV are great examples.

    I don't think it's impossible to bring sonic into any of these forms efficiently, but by now it feels as if the specific franchise is cursed or something.

    This will sound horrible, but I have always had a "backup plan". When I was about 15 I said to my closest friends, should I ever find myself in such a dire condition that I find myself homeless, I'll walk into a post office and rob them without a mask. I'll take all the money I can and run away.

    Once found I would pledge guilty and end in a federal jail for who knows how long. This is assuming I don't get shot at leaving the post office with a fake gun in hand.

    I always found it a bit silly that we take better care of our criminals than we do of our homeless. Sure, some homeless refuse help and just want to get their next fix, but they are far from the majority. Those are just the ones that you will see most often due to their drug dependency.

    As for the guy in this article, his biggest mistake was his honesty. He should had just given a note for the classic "give me everything you can fit in this envelope, 20s only" and leave. The cops would had found him within a few days, if not the same day, as long as he did not attempt to hide too hard. Keep his mouth close about his intentions, too. Pledge guilty, blame it on hunger, whatever, just not reveal the full plan.

    Then again, this guy MAY gather sympathy and help due to his case getting nation-wide coverage.

    Sending the server the User agent is part of a standard HTTP request. Here is apple's documentation on how how to create your own mutable NSMutableURLRequest_Class request. It has been supported since iOS 2.0

    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#DOCUMENTATION/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSMutableURLRequest_Class/Reference/Reference.html

    Just use setValue:forHTTPHeaderField to set the "User_Agent" for the request.

    Here is an example on how to use it:

    - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)req navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType {
    NSMutableURLRequest *request = (NSMutableURLRequest *)req;

    if ([request respondsToSelector:@selector(setValue:forHTTPHeaderField:)]) {
    [request setValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ Safari/528.16", [request valueForHTTPHeaderField:@"User-Agent"]] forHTTPHeaderField:@"User_Agent"];
    }
    return YES;
    }

    As you can see it's just use of documented and supported APIs.
