I got this news from my 88 year old Grandmother today before it was posted on Slashdot. Oh well so much for getting the tech news fast on a holiday weekend.
The only REAL redeeming quality that makes "EVERYBODY" use the x86 is that's what MICROS~1 WINDOWS runs on. If all of us slashdotters really give a rat's ass about world domination, then we ought to embrace the better CPUs that are out there. One thing I know for sure is that my daughters I-Mac blows away my PII and it doesn't need a fan.
I bought one of those machines a few weeks back. It's been sitting in my office, waiting for me to get the time to make cables.
One of owners of my company asked what it was. I explained the whole thing (hack and intended design). A couple hours later I walked by his office to find him surfing the IOpener site. I reminded him that the hack was supposedly closed, said he didn't care about that. He wanted one buy one for his Grandfather. Word of mouth is a great method of advertising.
