Who tagged this with "why"? If the article had been "Android ported to toaster" everyone would have been jumping all over it. Say what you will about the pretentiousness of iphone users, it pales in comparison to holier-than-thou geeks.
Is there a way to launch a general challenge against someone who rampages around claiming expert witness status? In other words, could someone sue him, unrelated to any specific case, to stop him from claiming he is an expert witness?
Does anyone know what IBM is working on these days, as far as UI? I remember hearing about thier R&D doing some truly crazy things with UI. One of the most impressive was the computer tracking your eye movements, in conjunction with voice and hand motions, to interact with the computer. They actually demo'd a sorta working prototype and it was pretty snazy (although it had ungodly system requirements)
I agree with the live and let live part. The thing I don't like about bands like the Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, etc is that they got lucky. Some record executive might have seen them in a mall, or they one a contest. Six months later they release a CD. Too many of the "bands" don't write their own music, if they even know how to write music, nor do they play instruments. Not to say they don't have good voices, but if it weren't for a pretty face, no one would know who they are. I don't want my kids growing up thinking that if you look good and wear the right close you can be a pop icon.
You are correct in assuming (and I know you are) that I don't like "their" music either, no matter who writes it. I also don't like country or most of rap, but I recognize and respect musicians in those genres' that display a love for their music, not just a love for the money their music makes.
Also, sometimes good musicians just get a lucky break, but I think those are few and far between. Most work their asses off at their music, getting paid very little if anything at all. Take for instance Lynard Skynard. They played every single little gig they could get their hands on, just because they loved doing it. They practiced in a little tin-roofed building in the middle of Alabama, with temperatures in the 100's. At that point they weren't making any money, just music.
So, after rambling for a bit, let me just conclude by saying it's not them or their music that people don't like, it's the idea of them and their music.
Why is it that every game that comes out these days is crap unless it uses alien technology from 200 years in the future. So what if it doesn't break any boundaries in the world of computer gaming? Frankly, if it weren't for cheating on bnet I would still be playing Diablo I, so if D2 is nothing more than a REALLY BIG patch that prevents cheating I'll still buy it.
Is it possible that more naturally aggressive people gravitate to video games and violent/action movies? Is it possible that these aggressive people use video games and movies as an outlet for their aggression instead of acting on them in the real world? It's not to say that people who engage in violent behavior don't get ideas from video games or movies (or the 10 o'clock news...), but maybe, just maybe, they were predisposed to violence BEFORE they were introduced to the various types of media currently facing blame for the worlds woes...
I can't quite figure out how they'll stop me from taking a screenshot of the encrypted image.

I would have to agree that they look pretty good. I like the black glossy cover, but I would prefer perhaps a matte black tubey thingy.
Someone above mentioned it not looking affordable. What I want is something that is affordable, but doesn't look it.
