Won't be long until astronomers discover the Odelay Nebulae. A cluster of three that resemble a microphone and a pair of turntables. The only question is 'Where its at?'.
I'm actually pretty excited at this news. Granted, my understanding of astrophysics is limited to Hawking books and guests of George Noory (kidding, kind of). But I look forward to anything that seems to pin down the concept of 'dark matter'.
Dark matter to me has always smacked of a Victorian Era flimflam artist talking about the aether. And I don't care how dapper Mortimer T. Snerd is dressed, I'm not drinking his dark matter kool-aid until I can get a better explination for it than 'its invisible, supermassive, unobservable, and so totally there'. If you can't explain it to me, the interested layman, you may need to put your theory back in the crucible o' truth. Its probably not done yet.
Everytime I hear that said, I always wonder if a better idiot would be smarter or dumber. And the longer I think on it, the more doubt starts to creep in that I may be the latest model...
Well, you could always engage in the process to change those things you dislike. Or emmigrate to another nation which shares your viewpoints. Or complain offtopic and anonymously on an internet discussion site. ..Oh wait, number 3 it is.
I'm a CAD user and I've recently moved to AutoCAD 2009 which adopts MSFTs ribbon strategy. I can't stand it. It is overloaded with information for the novice users, and does not offer me the complexity I need. This is a case where the middleground is empty for a reason.
OTOH, I also use Excel 2007 pretty heavily and I find the ribbon to work in that context quite well. Everything necessary seems to be either logically placed on the ribbon or available from the context menu.
This is the biggest problem I have with the move to the ribbon, it is not the ideal solution for all applications, but will be set as the default for all new software releases for the sake of cohesion with Windows' GUI. I generally don't like the ribbons, but I expect it will not be too long before they are too ubiquitous to ignore.
Perhaps an author is writing a sequel to a popular series -- just because fans are clamoring for a scene they've always wanted to see or something they want to learn doesn't mean the author is obliated to put that stuff in to satisfy them. It's ultimately made by the author, not the fans.

Think of how dumb the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that
Everytime I think about that I laugh...and die a little inside.
They're very old, astronomers just didn't realize it because they were stored in mothballs

One word. Misery
