medibuntu repositories should be available by default. people DO want codecs and 3rd party software like Skype, despite what people like RMS might think. they don't need to be installed by default, but at least have the capability there by default. (Totem does go out and search for codecs now at least, which is a good thing.)
the problem is not ideology. its legality. codecs like mp3, divx, wma, etc are proprietary and they can't be included without paying money to the owners. but canonical and any other distro as far as i know don't (want to) pay anything to proprietary codec owners.
actually they changed nothing in the fonts except to enable subpixel smoothing by default. ibex too had the option under appearance in the fonts tab. but by default smoothing was turned off.
well it seemed to be very good to me. i remember my new winxp install disc had the final fantasy trailer bundled. i actually thought it was live action the first two times i saw it. then i was able to spot some unnaturalness in the faces and then i realized. but it was really good.
just unfortunate that it got such bad reception.
bios passwords are a joke. on my hp pavillion, if i slide open the side cover and shake up the cell on the mobo, it forgets all bios settings and the password too.
You could very well be looking at criminal charges for not paying off your credit card bill...
well that seems to be a real crime to me. you borrowed money from someone and agreed to a contract that you would pay it back after a pre-determined time period. now if you breach the contract, isn't it a crime?
yes but you never get the original versions here. only the low price editions with crappy paper and black and white printing. i once got an original us version (very expensive) of a book i already had in lpe. and it was so much better to read. but if i had to pay that much for every book, i would have to find a full time job just to sustain my book buying expenses. what i've realized is that the best way to get books is to ask a senior for his old ones. you get good advice regarding which book is good and you get the book for free:)
i've never been able to read from a computer screen. it just does not feel comfortable. and if i print out a whole book it will cost me more than the actual market price of the book.
The PCIe bus is not the only problem. Even at 10Gb Ethernet, the load on the CPU of processing each interrupt corresponding to each packet arriving on the network becomes significant. At 1 Tb/s, your network speed is substantially higher than both the peak hard drive bandwidth (3 Gb/s) in your average desktop computer. At 1 Tb/s, you could fill a 1 TB hard drive in 8 seconds flat!
For the moment, these high speed technologies will be primarily used in the network and cabling closets, where the aggregate bandwidth of many computers (or at least many hard drives) can be gathered together.
i've never seen any hard drive do 3 gb per second. maybe that's just the interface maximum and actual data rate off the platter is much lower.
i even doubt anyone will use the starter edition even in developing markets. i live in india, which is considered as a developing market now. and i wouldn't buy a netbook for 20k bucks and then be limited to 3 apps. i would rather buy the full version for another 2500 bucks.
i thought itunes was just an optional app that would manage music better on bigger ipods and you could buy your music from its interface. i thought shuffle being so small (2gb) would support drag and drop. also, i think you meant:
I buy a playstation and complain about it not playing XBox games.
yeah, and when i just want to transfer my new cd to my shuffle, i have to download a 60mb installer and agree to run that bloated crap on my already windows encumbered pc. i threw down my shuffle in a rage out of the seventh floor window. just got my new sony ericsson w595 with 4gb memory. i can just copy all of my wmplayer-ripped library and paste it on the phone over bluetooth. no extra software.
1) Sharing copyright material is not allowed
2) They set up a site to PROMOTE and SUPPORT the piracy of copyright material
3) They named the site after the "crime" of piracy
4) They kept saying "nah, nah, na, na, nah, can't catch us"
So let's say I build a bar:
- Knowing that killing people is illegal.
- Call it "Killers Bar".
- Publicly say that I'm in favour of killing every single human being on earth as long as it's for money and that I don't care if contract killers use my bar to make their deals.
- Keep saying "nah, nah, nah, can't catch me".
I should be accused of promoting murder and sent to jail?
no. but if an fbi agent questions you about any criminal activity in your bar that you may be aware of and you tell him to go fuck off and later a murderer is caught dealing in front of your nose and in your bar, and you say that you support murder and won't tell them anything about the murderer, you will be sent to jail.
Mod parent up, just look at Apple where it does dominate the market, mp3 players.
but...but i thought apple sold ipods, not some common mp3 player!
what i think is that long before microsoft going belly-up, companies like dell/hp will.
nor will vista or osx. well technically vista can, but you need two core i7s and 4 high end nvidias :)

man i'm not in college. just gave my 12th boards and iit-jee. now studying for aieee. in delhi. you?
That's running at 1.33GHz with only 768GB.
what's speed got to do with hard drive capacity? hard drive read/write speeds sure, but certainly not capacity.
well i wouldn't know what the situation is in us. because i live in india.
i think its just a reference. it doesn't work because it isn't supposed to. its like some sort of an inside joke or something.
pardon me, but what does ^H mean?
i think the point is that normal people exhibit all emotions too. an animator may refer to their faces and expressions instead of an actor's.
what was that?
well it seemed to be very good to me. i remember my new winxp install disc had the final fantasy trailer bundled. i actually thought it was live action the first two times i saw it. then i was able to spot some unnaturalness in the faces and then i realized. but it was really good. just unfortunate that it got such bad reception.

and if you buy a ford, you are hurting toyota's business model.
if you buy wii-fit you threaten you local gym's business model.
ridiculous indeed.

yeah and libraries here also have lots of dvds too. mostly 2-3 year old movies but still quite useful.

yeah. electrons just drift and that speed is usually in the order of a few cm/s.
