Most small to medium businesses that I know of use consumer grade DSL or cable connections that are notorious for going out weekly for minutes or hours, and yearly for a day or more.

i don't know what you're talking about, my dsl connection has never gone down. ah, i remember now! It went out once at 11.30 pm and i called up the company. they told me it would be all right in two hours.
but i really doubt that those expensive fixed ip lines for businesses would go out.

Why do PS2 games cost up to $100 there?

Because PS2 consoles aren't manufactured in Brazil, and PS2 games aren't developed and replicated in Brazil.

and ps2s are not made in india either. but we get the consoles for 100usd and games fo 10usd each. however, the game discs are made here.
still i can't understand why brazillians have to shell out 250usd per console.

I have to agree with you - too much money and not enough capability.

I'd be surprised to hear that a PS2 actually costs $250 in Brazil. You can pick them up used here in the UK for the equivalent of $100 or so, and the GamingIndians article linked in the summary places them at $125 (presumably new); the Zeebo isn't undercutting them at all, it's half the price again!

Add to that the fact that Zeebo's DRM prevents illegal copying (thus cutting off a prime source of cheap games in those markets) and places restrictions on the use of legally purchased content (no lending, for example) and I can see no reason that anyone would buy one if it actually were cheaper, let alone pay the premium for one.

yeah i just bought a ps2 for 6490 inr. that comes out to be about 105usd. and i got two games free too.

Wouldn't the ability to collect biometric information require a fairly potent piece of spyware to be loaded on the client system? How would a user, or even a security professional, easily tell the difference between a keylogger that reads our actual strokes, and one that is just timing the key presses?

Sounds like a kernel mode device that would have be part of the input drivers. It's an attack surface, IMO. I would think it's safer to have an separate input device for biometric authentication only than attempt to biometric metadata from highly sensitive input devs like keyboards and mice.

I did enjoy the 'honeypot field' example (in TFA). I suspect it is probably easily defeated, unfortunately. If the field is hidden on the page, can't we write a bot to detect that physical fact, or any source code (javascript?) that hides it. How do you obfuscate something like that without serving it with the page?

Sounds to me like CAPTCHA still wins. Oh well, I didn't expect much. ;^)
