    How about when IE crashes it DOESN'T take down file explorer with it?

    well it doesn't.
    hell, in ie8 even the tabs are crash independent. one crashed tab will not take down ie, much less file explorer.

    Ah, you may like it to be there. Not everyone does. And that's the crux of the matter... Having the freedom to choose. Which of course nobody cares about when they choose to go with the majority. Fortunately, the EU understands that the rights of minorities are more important.

    that's new. i always thought the rights of the majority were more important in a democratic system.

    software engineers get a SALARY. maybe you didn't know that?

    yeah he knows that, i'm sure.
    and the point is that the musician knew before making any music that he would not get a salary in music-making. he knew that his revenue would have to come from record sales, which are inherently unpredictable and risk prone. so if you made a choice, don't whine later if you did not consider the risks and rewards properly.
    it's a bit like i invest all my money in the stocks and when the market crashes iwhine about where am i going to get money for a living.

    okay so that is a terribly smart thing to say. but actually trained professionals are highly educated and responsible citizens. they are much less likely to be biased than a layman.

    As for trotting out apple, you're hopelessly naive if you think that microsoft won't kill the OSX version of silverlight the minute apple's market share gets a little bigger than microsoft would like.

    For the government to put microsoft firmly in control of a lever by which which can hurt its competitors as much as it likes is like putting the proverbial fox in charge of the henhouse.

    its not only europe and japan. even here in india we've had 3g twin video camera phones for atleast like three years. iphone just cant keep up when you compare its features with another phone. but its ui is something that can't be objectively compared, its so ahead of any thing else.

    you don't have to do any extra configuration. just download the latest thunderbird 3 and choose the gmail imap when it asks you.

    well, i don't know any webmail that offers free pop/imap except gmail. do you know any?

    If it's a GSM network, then the cell towers do transmit a country ID. My phone says it is connected to an "O2 - UK" tower at the moment.

    i don't think that is a country id. it's just that they include 'uk' in the operator name. to the cellphone it does not mean anything.
