  1. Re:Writers that don't own the show on Star Trek Luminaries Behind the Fastest Funded Film Project On Kickstarter · · Score: 1

I liked the flavor of Firefly it was real and gritty and the charactors were deep, diverse and interesting and the scifi and special effects wernt "in your face" like so many shows tend to be. to me this show is alot like the first coffee.

  2. youtube facebook google on Dark Days Ahead For Facebook and Google? · · Score: 1

They suck at what they do but there are no other real choices so were stuck with them. Youtube: has no way to filter or sort videos you subscribe to so you end up with a bit pile of videos you have seen or arnt interested in piled in a poo pile. Facebook: has such odd ways of doign stuff that it greatly limits any real usefullness and lets not forget the randomly dissapearing facebook pages Google: has messed up their search profile with bias and predious that your better off starting a few pages into the search to get past googles bias and prejustice that end up not giving you the search you asked for. curtomer service NOT there becoming dinosaures and just like some car companies that fail to adapt they become extinct.

  3. commercials on Fox Sues Dish Over "Auto Hop" Ad-Skipping Feature · · Score: 1

For the most part I stopped watching commercils with a little bit of show on top. as far as im concerned they are double dipping. We are paying to watch the darn shows AND are forced to sit through stupid commercials that have their audio set like 20% higher most anoying but it works great at blocking them. You can get or make a volume detector and when the louder commercials comes on you can pause a DVR or just power down the tv for a preset time.

  4. games ruining people on Are Porn and Video Games Ruining a Generation? · · Score: 1

I would say current video games maybe... because they are devoide of that kind of interaction and quite frequently devolve into hack and slash there is no love relationship dating or sex in video games porn ends up being the same way its hack and slash porn style but if you are goinh to blaim games and port you better add schools and our society for making that subject taboo. just an example: is having Prostitution a crime. social interaction and relationships should be a class in school students should be taught some dancing and karaoki and dating Etiquette and even go on practice dates.

  5. reverse the problem virtual university on Professors Banning Laptops In the Lecture Hall · · Score: 1

why not just move the school lock stock and barrel into a virtual environment? it would be a MUCH more effecient use of our tax dollers and be a much more powerful learning tool than some dry monotone teacher want to learn french hop in a teleporter and pop over to a virtual france want to study mars take a shuttle and walk on its virtual surface. want to study shakespear or a past president? pop into a time portal and go visit them. you can even have a traditional university location with much more powerful learning tools that would be far too expensive or impossible to aquire in a real school. so is this a godd idea? bad? why?

why not do something really usefull and have the government or microsoft sponcer a VIRTUAL ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT! huge gain for the doller,, want to learn french? teleport to a virtual france (or have a traditional virtual university setting) go learn about mars by virtually walking on its surface for literaly pennies the tech has been available since year 2000 for a realistic enough world, and people can log into it from almost anywhere and they can learn about nearly anything biology? shrink to the size of a microb,, chemestry do virtual experiments there is nearly no limit. I proposed this on the obama website and the DOE site but fell on deaf ears guess it doesnt spend enough taxpayer money.

  8. dumbed down and violent games on Another Study Attacks Violent Video Games, Claims To Be "Conclusive" · · Score: 1

I have to agree that over the years as a game player that games especially MMOs have gotten dumer and more violent actually cutting other parts of content the latest example is STAR TREK ONLINE that was expected to be a very diverse and immersive game which was one of the best platforms for imbeded learning in the last 15 years but cryptic dissreguarded this and ultimatly released yet another HACK and BLAST game they didnt even bother to include all the planets in our own solar system! and the scanning and charting and exploring has been all but excluded it is the same fate with crafting. it may LOOK like star trek but it definatly is only a weak mirage of what it should be.. they should require games to include imbeded educational content either in an organic mode such as learning to be a medic,, or a stealth mode such as data needed to complete a quest or with crafting or economy.

  9. cell info on Killer Apartment Vs. Persistent Microwave Exposure? · · Score: 1

cell towers tend to operate in the 900 to 1.2 ghz range just like any radiation range time and shielding are factors there are electromagnetic meters that can show you your exposier, sometimes a cheap AM radio can on static can give interesting results. the higher the frequency the smaller the fish and the better "net" you need. the shielding doesnt need to be thick or even block light very fine metal screen or metalic mylar may give shielding, a multimeter that shows conduction and the film is grounded properly can be effective. also flat pannels attached at 90 degree angle will reflect the radiation away, if the cell company complains you can use the argument that the freq energy is too low to be harmful to people should also not be harmful to equipment especially at double the distance. im not an expert so take with grain of salt,, might take a look at amateur radio info or find a ham operator,, even if it doesnt directly effect you it may effect other items like electronics, also walls are no garentee of protection.

  10. gender and ethnic on Games Fail To Portray Gender and Ethnic Diversity · · Score: 1

in several games either the devs are lazy or under the thumb of the bean counters they tend to have a standard male. many games ive tried to do one ethnic or another the latest was american indian but everything is so politicly correct EXCEPT white males. if they let you make different races then they become vulnerable to nitpicking lawsuits. we had a very old sign in town that dipicted an indian and it was forced to be taken down I see this happen alot its just easier NOT to identify charactoristics of other races or even things like religious symbols. ask yourself why dont fantacy games have charactors that are part of a church? other than name only. why cant my high level charactor be a pope or bishop or at least head of a local church? its because of american fear and shame of its own identity. in my opinion.
