    I didn't realize Windows was a business.

The answer to the question "why is Microsoft still in business?" is because Apple doesn't license its operating system to OEMs. Apple is a hardware company, and they want you to buy their stuff. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it's the reason Macs have the reputation of just working. Restrict the hardware you have to support to a very limited range and you can work out all the bugs.

Microsoft, however, allows any Joe Dirt to buy OEM licenses and install on any homebuilt computer. And so we have the great trade-off: Monopoly on hardware and higher unit prices, but fewer bugs vs. Competition from different manufacturers and lower prices, but more bugs and security issues.

Most people go for the lower priced computer.

Disclaimer: I own a MacBook Pro and various home-built desktops

Because we must follow the rules of war, our costs/losses are going to be exponentially higher. If we waged total war and took no prisoners we would be out of there by now. If Al-Qaida fought "fair" we would be out of there by now. A smaller, more flexible (as in morals/tactics--suicide bombings, hiding behind civilians, etc.) force such as Al-Qaida could bleed any military force dry as long as incoming resources replace those which are lost.
Hold your Troll/Flamebait mods, I'm not advocating we do away with the treaties that restrict us, I'm merely stating a fact. The face of war has changed and conventional warfare is a thing of the past.

Hostile intent doesn't mean you have the right to lethal force in any state. It would allow you to attack him certainly, and probably threaten him with a gun, but not to shoot him without further provocation. Which doesn't mean you wouldn't get away with it with a conservative jury and a good lawyer, but the idea of excessive force exists pretty much everywhere.

Wrong. See Castle Doctrine. And for good reason too. If I come home and find someone in my house that shouldn't be there, I'm not going to wait for them to attack me in any form or fashion.
