    the equvilant of a USA today article. Sure people on AOL and M$ Slaves will read it and go see we are right. Any article that can be summed up in under 1000 words does not really mean much. Open source is for our community bad press in a forum like that means about as much as when we flame M$. Anyone that would stay away due to that sort of "journalism" should not be here to begin with.

    The game of chess is a human invention to test our own limits. It is a game afterall. The fact that alot of posters feel a computer is superior and better suited for testing itself is scary. I would suggest reading The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut. He may well of seen our future. :(

    Anybody get really scared anytime any form of government starts making laws. It seems as though most laws are half-assed. How can these people really pass laws on technology. It took the US Government years upon years and a couple hundred million dollars to figure out that M$ was using unfair business practices. Now our local governments belive they can legislate software. I never knew there was a problem with current software purchase laws. Oh well gotta love the government fsck it all up, then fix the fsck up.

    There will be growing pains and Linux be nature has always required more user intervention. That is a neccessity based on what the end goal is. If you want easy and a complete lack of ability to choose M$ is always there for you. Otherwise I am sure the time it took you to make the changes helped you learn and made your system better a win-win situation in my opinion.

    Even if Red Hat had 99.9% of the market it is ok. Why because I have the right to put out a Linux Distro of my own. Microsoft Windows is Closed. Linux is Open and Free. There is a big difference between the two. I wish Red Hat nothing but the best even if I don't personally use it. Linux needs someone to carry the torch and be the first step.

    If you as a society are running around on the streets dispencing "Justice" is the computer really neccessary? I get the feeling the computer is just there to make it seem fair.

    Maybe it is time for people to pay attention to there children. You cannot expect to sit your child at a computer with internet access and walk away. There is alot of offense material. Just like your local newspaper or TV. Get involved with your child. The computer/internet is not a babysitter. There iis information on EVERYTHING. From Pornography to Politics. I do not want my child reading about Hate that is why when my 9 year old daughter is on the net I'm with her. Stop blaming freedom and start spending time with the children. It is a basic part of parenting. No where on the Computer does it say it is a Babysitting tool.

    I agree it depends on the program. After reading the article I was shocked to see the comment the Athlon was faster on MOST programs. Well I need to know what programs to make an informed choice. Bad writing for effect only. Articles with no real usable information just create confusion. Both chips are fast.

    Also keep in mind a solar panel isn't like a battery.. it has fluxuating power as the light on it brightens/dims. ---- Which is why solar cells can be connected to batteries therby regulating the power output. This makes the process more expensive as a startup but life is full of tradeoffs. :p

    This is so sad. Some my be happy the Amazon is getting theres as they have dished it out but... The only people winning here are lawyers. They will reap millions in fees and the general public will belive that this is just more problems with internet commerce. I wonder if we can all ever get past the grade school mentallity of MINE!

    Instead of Pinkerton spending resources and Man/Woman hours on this program why did they not leave corporate environment and enter a school and talk to teens with problems. I would imagine that interaction would do far more good than gifts and a program of division. I have been a Big Brother to two boys for almost four years now. I may not save the world but when one of them just entered college I cannot tell you the pride I felt in my heart. I may be a bleeding heart liberal but damn it felt good. Stop throwing money and programs at kids and get involved you may be amazed at how quickly things can change.

    If I were bringing out a new product I would much rather use a free item (linux) instead of paying (Microsoft). Linux is really the only logical choice for these new products.

    In legal terms Theft must be tangible. So they can not be charged with Theft. They did steal it is just not theft. Network services is not something you can hold in your hand. This is similar to most fraud cases. The first poster was just making a legal point.

    Any belief system is dangerous. We as humans require a feeling of total acceptance in society. It does not matter what the belief is. A group of people will rally and become unreasonable whenever one system is the "superior" system. Pol Pot was a self described Atheist. I would not consider any belief to be optimal. The simple state that one system is optimal begins a path to the inability to accept others. Unfortunatly it is human nature.

    I'm more excited unfortunately about the fact that i can now tell my daughter that i walked to college for ten miles in a blizzard everyday and then when i got there i took my computer science classes with a notebook computer. Top that dad. ;).

    at least in the UK you seem to value education and things such as this. Here in the states we prefer to have people win a million dollars by either picking 7 random numbers and watching ping pong balls or answering 10 questions or so from Regis.

    I do remember that negative numbers are only numbers with properties therefore they cannot be primes. Example -2 is the value 2 with a math equation of subtraction attached to it. So in theory positive 2 and -2 have the same value. however -2 is not a true number it is part of an equation. Man I remember failing that class and it turns out i actually retained some of it. Only took 9 years to remember it. :(.

    You can buy them contact the court and assume the debt. From what I understand you would only need to strike a deal with 15 different lending institutions and come up with a few hundred million dollars to pay the debt off. Then at approx. 400 million a year you have a business that is losing money. Welcome to bancruptcy
