Besides the XML declaraton at the top, is there anything else about this page that couldn't be done with regular old XHTML? All I see is CCS, Javascript, and a little HTML.
However, is the guy who gets 20 years for pot possession also a danger to society?
The justice system is set up to punish the lower classes and minorities more, regardless or the circumstanses of the crime.
Arn't the guys who run S&L scams and threaten the whole economy doing a lot more damage than those who steal cars or just happen to be carry enough drugs to get counted as a dealer?
I don't understand your logic. Because traditional modern medicine doesn't have all the answers they can't have a TLD?
The TLD will just mean certified by the WHO. If you trust the WTO you can trust.health sites (to some extent). If you don't trust the WTO, than just ignore the.health sites.
For instance I don't trust the government to tell me the truth about a lot of issues, but I'm still glad there's a.gov, so I can go to irs.gov and d/l my tax returns without having to worry if irs.gov is REALLY the irs's web site or not.
The main problem with AMD right now is that the motherboards cost so much more. The Duron/Athlon chips are cheeper but when you have to spend $50 more on the motherboard (than if you bought a PIII or a Celly) it makes the price gap very small.
When we can get Socket A mobos for $70, then Intel will be truly useless.
PS. I don't understand what the title "AMD on Celeron" is supposed to mean. I guess that they are on the celeron's trail? Weird grammar.
...with the selling-your-vote-online metaphore is that you are implying that the candidates buy votes.
That is not how the system works. The candidates don't buy votes, the corporations buy candidates. Either Bush or Gore is going to win, but for the powerfull elite it doesn't matter. Most corps have donated to both the Democrats and the Republicans.
Don't throw your vote away on the Republicrats. Vote Nader.
If you consider how much CPU processes for the average 500MHz you are not using while typing at the command line I really don't think it's a problem. And consider the fact that in two years a 800MHz proc will seem slow as balls.
...so newbies can write what they mean and worry about learning the "shortcuts" later. An OS that had only a human interface would suck, but if it had both it'd be pretty cool, like when I've been away from *nix for a while and I can't rememeber the damn syntax of various command options.
Why shouldn't Windows come with a web browser? I mean, KDE has one built in doesn't it? I think the problem is when Microsoft forces HW vendors to include their software or not include anyone else's software.
Also, please point me to the benchmarks for the low end 3dfx card beating out the GF2. Every artical i've read and bench mark i've seen has show that the Geforce is faster than everything except the voodoo5 6000 which is like 700 bucks and only wins due to brute force of 4 chips.
At least with Q3A, which is the only game that maters:-P
You might have a point with linux, but the Geforce drivers are very quick and stable, since they have been around a while.
These are great for people that don't know much about sysadmining and stuff, but I tend to think they you could slap together a Celeron system with a MUCH bigger hard drive, MUCH more memory for a lot less if you know how to install and admin linux. It's not like the software cost anything.
Seems like a great tool for people that manage to get hired as sysadmins and don't really know what they're doing.
Well, Netscape isn't really doing okay. They were bought by AOL weren't they? How much money do you think they are making off the netscape browser right now?
They couldn't survive on their server because they had very little of the server market. And that was because they didn't have the advantage of having a monopoly on the desktop OS market, and thus couldn't mussle their way into a domenant position in the web server/high-end OS market.
Remember the Celeron 300 and 300a? Case in point. The more the better. Your logic is flawed here. It's true that going from the cacheless 300 to the 128k cache 300a was a huge improvement I wouldn't say "the more the better." It depends entirely on what application you are using the proc for.
For instance, a computer with 32MB of ram is going to run a ton faster than one with 8mb of ram, but one with 1GB of ram isn't going to run that much faster than one with 256MB of ram for normal applications. Only really high-end apps need this much.
The Xeon is aimed at High-end servers which could probably benefit from the cache, but is the price worth it? I dunno.
The main reason to buy one, as you stated, is for the >2 SMP. AFAIK the only difference between the MP capabilities of the Xeon line and the regular line is that the PIII's are purposely crippled to only run on 2x SMP. It seems like a rip that Intel would do this and then charge an arm and a leg for almost the same proc with SMP turned on.
I don't mean to bait flames, but I don't understand why anyone would waste their money on a mac.
For $3499 you can get a Mac G4 500MHz with 256MB SDRAM, 27GB HDD, DVD, 8MB Rage Pro 129 (ug!!!) Zip drive, but No Monitor and No Modem.
Or for the same amount you can get a PC system with a 1000MHz Proc, 128MB RDRAM, 32MB GeForce (woohoo!) 30GB drive, DVD, CD-RW, SB Live, Speakers, and 19" Monitor. Plus other shit like an office suite. (quoted from DELL, but prices are about the same all around).
The only selling point for their mac is their OLD user interface. Every good graphics app you can get for the PC. They are surviving on hype alone.
Everyone talks about how safe and clean nuclear power is except for the waste. What you forget is that mining and refining the fuels for the reactor create a lot of polution and waste. The nuclear advocates always seem to neglect mentioning this.

FTC extracted a promise that the new behemoth would 'protect consumer choice.'
Neither company has protected consumer choice on their own -- what makes anyone think they will now that they've merged?
I agree.

A computer hacker? He'll be sent to min security prison and I'm sure he won't get much sex action.
Prison is just like the rest of society. They don't let white collars mingle with the lower classes.
Okay, so the oil co.s can use The Penguin to find ways to destroy the habitats of penguins.

Think about
Just remember that the TLD doesn't certify the accuracy of the information, only the source.

You guys need a new picture. I'm startin' to get numb to that one.

Actually a celeron is a modified PII so it should be Pentium 2.1 maybe or P2.-1
Or maybe even Bob for Linux!!!
Wooohooo! The fun'll never end.

Uh, Glide games? What year is it? :-)

I knew it! Go ATI and Radeon!
Uh, more like go NVidia GeForce 2. Has anyone actually got their hands on a Radeon yet? GeForce2 is almost shipping AFAIK.
3dfx sucks. $700 for the top of the line Voodoo 5 which will just bearly beat out the Geforce 2? Give me a break.

Ok, but calling it a General Public License without even mentioning GNU is negligent. But we've all ben over this before so I digress.
Well said.

This is not the first time Real Networks has sung the praises of the DMCA.
Another reason to boycott RealAudio.
Just as importantly, Torvalds adopted a General Public License that said anybody could copy his code, change...
Woah There! Let's get our facts right! They are obviously referring to the GPL--did someone there not even bother to read a few slashdot posts?
They don't even GNU once. And people wonder why RMS is so stubbern.
