He is running W7 both places on a static IP? Why not just use remote desktop? I know, I dislike Windows A LOT, but for this problem, is there any reason he can't just use remote desktop? If you have access to the office machine, configure the firewall to only allow remote desktop to connect from the home IP, set the preferences on the home machine to connect to the work machine and start in full screen, and you are done. You can even link the rdp file to his desktop and he gets double-clicky access.

I would be much more, okay, slightly less paranoid about things like this with one change. Any legislation like this applies to the members of government FIRST. You want a single biometric ID for all workers, after you, Senator. Don't think we need warrants for wiretaps, fine, we will just install this nice little device on all your phones, and the transcripts can go straight to wikileaks. Have a problem with "government run health care"? Fine, we will just take away your health plan (it's government run after all). Good luck finding insurance now, Mr. Old White guy with a bad heart.

This is just one of the problems with having a legal system created by lawyers, for the benefit of the corporations.

If you are too stupid to pay attention when crossing the street, the crushing from 5 tons of metal and plastic is just deserts.

I speak as a pedestrian who was just recently given a warning from a cop about _jaywalking_, literally 5 seconds before the light changed with a block free from traffic either direction. Sure, it wouldn't have killed me to wait 5 more seconds, and here in Seattle, if I had noticed the cop sitting there I surely would have, but it sure seems that the police have better things to do with their time than babysitting me to make sure I don't get hit crossing the street. My mother judged me capable of that task 30 years ago.

Nature has already given us, not a nearly perfect fuel plant, but a nearly textile and paper plant. It is called Hemp. It grows like a weed, because technically (and culturally, dude) it IS one.

Why is it illegal to grow and manufacture it? It is all because of a war that we are starting that is more costly and less effectual than both Vietnam AND Iraq... The drug war. The silliest part is Hemp (not Marijuana, which is different) contains no THC. Go ahead, smoke as much as you want. It would be about as much fun as smoking knapweed or any other noxious weed.

It seems to me that correct way to fix the health-care industry/lawsuit issues is NOT by curbing lawsuits, but by limiting and/or penalizing the lawyers. First, there should be a 3-strikes rule for lawyers. Three frivolous lawsuits and your license is revoked. Nationwide. Second, limit the lawyers' take on any penalties to something realistic. Time and effort involved. No percent of the judgment deals. This way, the lawyers are less motivated to ask for unreasonable judgments, and the person injured actually sees more of the money that the jury thinks they deserve.

True story. After having one user tell me that she got a suspicious e-mail (had no idea what PayPal even was) and having told her to go ahead delete it and don't click on the link, a co-worker mentions in passing that she also got the email, but don't worry, clicking on the link doesn't do anything, it just opens a blank web page. I almost broke my arm restraining my self from slapping her. Thank god SP2 stopped her stupidity.
