It would appear that Dr. Davis' company Mad Doc Software has aquired the Jane's Combat Simulation licencing. Some of us old timers may remember EA was the previous holder of the licence, and after a promising start, ran it into the ground. The product, which has just gone gold, looks like a promising WW2 air sim. Here's hoping for sucsess to Dr. Davis and company
Because now it can do 48-Bit color. I know John Carmack has been trying to encorage advances in color depth for years. I think for an application like Maya this is a big deal. And what the hell, let SGI to R&D for the rest of the industy. If it flops, everyone else will know what not to do. In the end it's us consumers that win.
In the future it may be more prudent to release a new version before submitting to slashdot that you have released it. The newest release on ftp.freebsd.org is release canadate 3, at the time of this writing. Why must you jump your own gun?
The user will use thier data Billy's way. "Users should be in control of how their data is used" means the users control how OTHERS use thier data, not themselves.
The Tolkien estate sold the rights for 10,000 Pounds back in the 60's. Considring how much money this movie is gonna make, I'de say they got bamboozled.
I would agree with you totally, if it were not for one issue, that being the installed user base. I suspect it is much larger than any single product of HP's, and surpassed only by other Microsoft operating systems.
So in 10-15 years will 'Attack of the Clones' be as bad of a title as 'Attack of the Test Tube Babies' Or 'Attack of the Sperm Donnor Children' for the kids that are the result of one of these methods of reproduction, being as Lucas is aiming his movies at the younger population. When I was first cognicant enough to understand the Starwars trilogy, it had been out for several years. "Mommy, will I be evil when I grow up?"
I just got off the phone with the Apple Store in Mall of America, MN, and they assured me that it is just a rumor, and they will not be distributing discs untill Saturday. Thats what we get for beta testing thier OS.
that altho a port of X will take a while, as soon as someone ports SVGAlib the games library for this gaming machine(that is what most people bought it for afterall) will grow by an extremely large chunk. I wonder how many of the good ole' games could get mass exposeure this way. Hell, you could run an ass load of console emulators and play em' the way you were spose too, on a TV. Time to hit up Ebay and find one for even less then 99$.
Mac users have long been deprived of the joys of MS OS's (since early NT 4). They must rise up, and cast off the shackels of life without windows. It is a basic human right damnit. How much longer can we stand for this? Petion. Protest. We shall know freedom again!
As a student of one of the top ten public highschools in the United States (and two months away from a CCNP certification),I can say with authority that if Linux was implemented in my school we would not have usable computers. Ever. This is due to the willingness to pass a 10 million dollar Technology in Education Referendum , but the refusal to hire admin.'s (or allow the students to administer) , and instead make the library staff perform the administrative duties. The results are draconian access rules (report card's are withheld until the student signs an "Internet conduct Pledge") or plain out stupidity(The Cisco Academy Network is not allowed any access to the internet , even though there is a fiber optic switch in the same room , and the building has a T1. It is my belief that the situation is rather similar in many schools across the nation. Even if Redhat gave a crate of CD's and service contracts to my school , nothing would result from it.
You know, I've heard that BSD game is dying.
Why wait four months? I thought the way it was intended was in black and white, and on paper.

"Even if you can't hook up a modem to them directly"
Nope. It has a built in modem, and with a homemade serial cable you can hook another up to it. Would make a cheep dial-in pool if you so desiered.

From the article:
The astronomers need the dishes to move no faster than the speed of Earth itself.
66,000 miles an hour is kinda fast isn't it?
