First off, you're not correct. At least not in what I've seen.

Most people that played Halo played THE console FPS before, and I mean Goldeneye for the N64. If you were of age to play that game when it was out, you played it. Now at that time its PC competition (Quake 2, Unreal) completely blew it away, but Goldeneye was still ridiculously popular. So I would say the people whose first exposure to an FPS game was Halo would be extremely limited. Since multiplayer FPS gaming on the console went back to Goldeneye as well, I would say the same for the second statement. (Perfect Dark was an awesome game, but was extremely unpopular, I found).

The people I know who play Halo are a big mix of extreme "street" cred gamers (owned Neo-Geo, played iD games before Wolf3D) and casual gamers (had consoles, no real computers). It's pretty evenly spread out.

That said, I would 100 to 1 prefer to play a game on the couch with my friends with beer/soda/drinks in hand than sitting on a computer.

In one precinct, Bush's tally was supersized by a computer glitch

    Jim Woods
    THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A computer error involving one voting-machine cartridge gave President Bush 3,893 extra votes in a Gahanna precinct.
Franklin County's unofficial results gave Bush 4,258 votes to Democratic challenger John Kerry's 260 votes in Precinct 1B, which votes at New Life Church on Stygler Road. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct.
Matthew Damschroder, director of the Franklin County Board of Elections, said Bush received 365 votes there.
The remaining 13 voters who cast ballots either voted for other candidates or did not vote for president.
Damschroder said he received some calls yesterday from people who saw the error when reading the list of poll results on the election board's Web site.
"It's why the results on election night are unofficial," Damschroder said.
The error would have been discovered when the official canvass for the election is performed, he said.
Election workers will start certifying the official election results later this month. The final, official tally will be available by the end of the month.
This is what happened, Damschroder said:...

I complained about this to my friend the ME one day, saying my audio cables are being angry, my telephone keeps wrapping itself tighter, my controllers are a mess.

He shook his head and lifted up a controller by its free end (the end that connects to the console). He held it up high. To my amazement, it began to spinning. After a few seconds, it stopped spinning, and he laid it down. "There, now it won't wind up." I aws amazed at this release of Torquential Controller Energy and have since been obsessed with released the TCE from any cables I can find.

No. But I guarantee if Nader didn't get so many votes last year, he wouldn't have as much press, and people would know less in general about 3rd party candidates.

It's not a waste. It's just a first step. The definition of success is not presidential victory this year. It's a change of the system. If you never take that first step how do you expect it to change?
