    It's like saying we're going to upgrade the dollar, and yet nobody moves to the "new dollar". The new dollar ends up valueless and everyone just stays on the old one.

    The dollar has one significant difference: the government requires that you use it to pay taxes. This forces nearly everybody to value the new dollar, which forces everybody to move to it.

    He borrowed government money to create a bunch of luxury cars for the rich.

    He has not actually paid it back yet, he still has four years to bankrupt the company.

    We had hope that rising gasoline prices and tightening emissions controls would lead to development of public transportation and people-focused instead of car-focused infrastructure design in the US, but these electric car pushers are damning us to a future where we are cursed by subsidized parking space, clogged expressways, and coal plants instead of subsidized parking space, clogged expressways, and oil refineries.

    The laws regarding monopolies and anti-competitive behavior are more complex than the simple dictionary definition of "monopoly". Microsoft was convicted of abusing a monopoly position, and now has to deal with the results of that conviction.

    Not likely. After nearly every car-cyclist accident, the drivers says "I did not see him." and gets off scot-free. Granted, this is appropriate when the cyclist was doing something stupid like riding at night without a light or crossing the street at speed from riding on the sidewalk, but there are an alarming number of cases where at-fault drivers are let off the hook because our society views non-automobile traffic as second class.

    Also would depend if the person in the smoke room had to watch a video of the bicyclist yelling "AsssHOLE!!!" and raise his middle finger as most of them seem to as they weave their way across busy city intersections.

    What is the difference between a driver and a cyclist? You can't hear the driver yelling "ASSHOLE!!!" every 10 seconds as he weaves his way across busy city intersections.

    You should look into setting up a Foreign Trade Zone. That would let you bring stuff in without paying duty, do the assembly and kitting locally, and then paying duty on the finished product instead of what you imported.

    The user has no control over how the server hashes passwords. The user has a choice not to submit unencrypted data.

    Unless, of course, the government mandates it.

    If only there were a widely deployed standard way of encrypting data submitted to web servers.

    It may have a higher yield strength than steel, but it snaps at that point instead of continuing to deform. That means it will be strong enough to drive, but will not pass a crash test. Game over.

    Because the Corvair engine is relatively easy to fit in and more powerful than the VW flat-4 and a lot cheaper than a Porsche flat-6.

    Nowadays it is more common to use a Subaru flat-4.

    Money was not flushed down the drain. Money was directed to campaign contributors, friends, family, and other connected members of the political class by way of contracts for unnecessary equipment.
