    You're right on this, the Android renderer is double buffered and vsync'd so anything can only be displayed at the display framerate (60fps) or a sub-multiple. Maybe the difference was only from 59 to 60fps. However even if this particular figure is dubious, that's not the only thing they changed, and there is real improvement.

    A drain is required because the combustion gases contain water (CnH2n+2 + 2n+1 O2 -> n CO2 + n+1 H2O). I don't even think condensing vapor from ambient air would be thermodynamically possible.

    True, they won't remember the commercials themselves. But ask your pals to chose between two similar products, one having been advertised and the other not, and most of the time they will choose the product that was advertised. Especially if they can't remember the ad. It's been studied extensively.

    I believe you are correct. I can't bother to look for a source but I remember there was a lawsuit over this feature.

    You're right, but who sits in the W3C standardization committee ? Names such as Apple, Microsoft, Mozilla, Opera ... the browsers vendor themselves are refusing to move the standard forward.

    It was particularly striking when they recently introduced the gray background for standalone images. Some people objected to the change, and were told that they could revert to the old behaviour with an extension. The funny part was that there had been an extension to add this gray background for a long time.

    The whole purpose of the patent system is that in exchange for a temporary protection of their invention, inventors release them publicly so that they can be examined and others learn from them. That's why a patent application is not only a declaration but must include sufficiently detailed descriptions of the invention to be able to duplicate it. This proposal is just absurd.

    If you want to think like this you have no natural right to anything. Your right not to be killed by your neighbor, to have property and not having it stolen exists only because someone thought it should be a law, and put resources into enforcing said law.

    so just about the only organisms which don't meet the broadest sense of this definition are Lithotrophic microorganisms that feed on minerals.

    And even among those a lot are aerobic and consume oxygen that has been produced by other organisms (arguably that's a quite broad definition of nutrient). Sometimes CO2 too. So the only non-predatory organisms would be the archaic bacteria who rely solely on oxidizers that come from the Earth's crust in volcanic areas.

    I thought the first 10k batch had already been sold and they were scrambling to get them certified to be released from customs. All of a sudden they have a batch ready to give to a school. Looks just like more PR to me. Maybe I wouldn't be so suspicious if their didn't already have so much delay delivering the goods to the actual customers.

    Vaccination is probably the invention that saved the most lives (hundred of millions) and contributed the most to the increase of life quality over the last 200 years. Vaccination protects the individual but also the whole population by preventing the spread of disease. No study has yet proven a link between autism and vaccines. There are only suspicions that the some adjutants may be harmful. Still, if you are concerned, some vaccines are available without adjutants. Please read up on the subject before taking a decision that potentially affects everyone.

    Besides, you're seriously underestimating the power of the German economy. It's about 23% of the US. "Ticking off" Germany might also not please Europe as a whole, and it is a bigger market than the US.

    So, basically, they are arguing they have jurisdiction because the dispute originated in the US - and it sounds like the US justice system feels that the Motorola suit was more retaliation against Microsoft for bringing up the case than a preplanned and poorly timed execution.

    However there is no international Justice system. Therefore no country has jurisdiction over any other, there are only independent systems. I am neither a lawyer nor a judge, but it seems quite clear that this judge overstepped his competence.

    Personally, however, I believe the US would never tolerate another country making the same claim. Instead, the US would claim sovereign rights and not bow to any court, national or international (yes, the US has refused to recognize the proceedings of the International Criminal Court - showing how much it believes in having other powers meddle in its governance).

    I believe that you, Sir, are 100% correct.

    This seems to me it would be a direct violation of a foreign country's sovereignty, something that is generally frowned upon (unless they can't defend themselves or have oil). This may make sense from this judge's point of view but I really don't see how that could stand before international law and treaties.

    Yes but much quicker and much more concentrated. If I were to receive the equivalent energy of 1/2 day worth of sunlight concentrated on 10sq centimeters in 100ms I'd get a pretty bad burn. Intensity matters.

    Bandwidth is generally not an issue. Online games use very little of it, and there's no reason to believe Diablo 3 will be different. What you do need is low latency, and even then it's only really important for FPS type games.

    2) They declared themselves that the board was a finished product to avoid UK import taxes. You can't have it both ways.

    Assumptions indeed. You're not going to be required to use the breathalizer to start the car. You're required to carry it in the case one day you want to check if you can drive but you're unsure.
