On July 1, 1966, millions of Americans lost all financial responsibility for their health-care decisions thanks to Medicare and Medicaid. In 1973, Senator Kennedy said 'I believe that the HMO is the best idea put forth so far for containing costs and improving the organization and the delivery of health-care services.' You can see the result of twenty-five years of government intervention into the health insurance/health care market. The 110th Congress just performed the same type of market manipulation on our financial system. You do not have to be a laissez-faire economist to realize that the government should stay out of markets.
I've played World of Warcraft, Eve Online, and Warhammer. I loved Counter Strike and Day of Defeat. I play games. It's what I do instead of watching television. I paid good money for those games and I paid good money for Nero.
Let me share something with you: I own a DVD player, but not a Blue-ray player. Curious why not? One word: Rootkit. Remember in 2005 when Sony did that? I do. Do you remember why? Yeah, an attempt to enforce DRM on paying customers.
I was considering Spore, but decided against the purchase after reading your response to concerns raised by paying customers. Notice I said paying customers, not pirates. I recently canceled my subscription to Warhammer. I like the game, but why would I want to give you my hard earned cash? Yes, you might deliver another decent game in the future, but I guarantee that you will attempt to deliver a better DRM.
I spend about $100 dollars a month on games. Yeah, it's not a lot but it keeps me out of the bars and out of jail. You may not care. If you don't then I feel sorry for your shareholders. I represent $1200 dollars a year in revenue and potential profit.
Respectfully,
Donovan
I am a recall coordinator. My job is to apply the formula. A new laptop built by my company overheats and the video card dies. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of laptops in the field, A. Multiply it by the probable rate of failure, B. Multiply the result by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A x B x C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
I went to install it on my Latitude D420 running Ubuntu and found it wasn't available. Because the browser isn't mature, I thought it was directed at people like me, a super user. Maybe it was, but if it is only available on MS products then it will never be as good as it could be if it had been written to run on multiple platforms./flame on
Windows is a virus.
Why is this important? Cui bono? Because there is a religion of the state and a cult of citizenry.
I'm not the brightest bulb in the box and I did have to google it, but now I see what you did there. 10/10
What if I paid with only the first 15 digits of my credit card?
Every time the plane banked too sharply on take-off or landing, I prayed for a crash, or a mid-air collision -- anything.
I think you're missing the point. But then this is Slashdot, a lot of us have never actually seen a vagina.
or been in one.
