One: what difference does it make if he runs Windows or not? Would he be more eligible to be a hacker if he was running AmigaOS or BeOS or what are you trying to say?

Two: The article did not say anything about running a executable file. It said he had downloaded a zip file called ""Georgian-Nato Agreement.", not that the zip contained exe's. There are other files than just executables that can contain malicious code, for example the guy himself is supposed to have used XDP files.

Not completely true. Dynamic allocation is not necessarily the answer. What you want to make sure is that you don't overwrite your fixed-length buffer by doing strcpy, memcpy on inputdata without setting the length to a max of your buffer.

Stack allocation is faster, why shouldn't i use it when i know what i'm doing :)

I was there in 1993, although it was in another place then (Lillestrom i belive). Back then it was pure geeks let me tell you :)

2unlimited "no limit" playing loud 24h a day, as far as calling it LAN, well we had a NULL-modem cabel and played VROOM on 2 Amiga 500.

Back in these days it was not all about playing CS and WC3 (yeah i know im a bit harsh now but...)

Beeing perhaps the only computer geek in town, going to a place like this and meeting 2000 other computer geeks from all around Europe! WOW! ... And bringing them demos home for some easy credits on the BBS'es when you got home :)

The problem is when you don't live with your parents anymore and have your own bills to pay. You can't ONLY work for free then. Alot of us programmers have always had one or more hobby projects where we work for free. At least i've been doing it since back in the early eighties. Then i could afford it, now i couldn't.

Hehe isn't that just lovely... but in these cases with the gnutella issue and the loveletter virus i hasn't been activated automaticaly. You had to open the email and then doubleclick the attachment. And with the gnutella version you had to download it somewhere on your disk and thewn try to execute it. Hmm if i write a VBS and put it on a web-page and call it funny.txt.vbs and people download it (hehe why read it it netscape =) ) doesnt that make it a WEB-WORM ? ... oh my god the whole WWW is going to be infected...
