In your case I would seriously consider the Nvidia chipsets that allow you to use SLI. Sure the initial videocard will be in the 450-550 price range, but the real benefit comes a year to 18 months later. When instead of needing to buy another 400-500 card to keep current, you can purchase an additional card of the same type that you have. Which by this time has dropped in price considerably.

From the initial benhcmarks, it seems like that may be a very cost-effective means to have your 3d performance keep up with the bleeding edge.

I rue the day I switched to ATTW. I was a very happy T-mobile customer for years, but unfortunately their service is not up to par in my new neighborhood. So I switched to ATTW wireless in Feb of last year.

I am one of those people that really likes auto-pay, and in the years I was with T-Mobile, I never once had a problem with a late bill. Unfortunately it seems that ATTW is incapable of processing my forms for auto-bill properly. I have sent in the forms 4 times, literally, the last time certified, yet they still havent managed to extricate their head from their ass. When my bill was late, because I incorrectly assumed they had processed my form (my mistake I know), they called me on my cell with an automated recording, indicating that someone would be on the line soon. Well as it turns out, they CALLED ME and PUT ME ON HOLD for 10 minutes. What kind of crap is that.

Needless to say a month ago I paid the 175(0) for each of my lines so that I could stop doing business with that horrid company.

Its kind of sad when people will actually pay money just to NOT do business with you.

Unfortunately it was when Osama suddenly put on a few pounds and moved to Iraq, that the wheels came of that wagon.

I truly do believe that GWB and Co. believe they were 100% correct in their actions. But what can be seen as a comforting consistancy by some, can viewed as a smug arrogance by others. Moreover, when the spin doctored reality contradicts body counts and TV images, that absolute certitude can be perceived as possibly sinister, or downright negligent.

Moreover, its nice to be able to get the latest movies, patches, and files without having to wait in-line or scour the net for it. Hell half the time I find it handier to go Fileplanet to look for patches to old games, than to go the publisher's site.

While Im sure some people have their moral or principel reasons they do not use Fileplanet, I do not agree that it is performance related.

Everyone keeps mentioning about the lack of fault tolerance in Raid 0. Personally I do not know anyone who runs a Raid 0 configuration on drives that containe data that would be considered important.

Personally I'm a hardcore gamer, and I run Raid 0 on two WD SATA 36G Raptors. These drives are used for my system drive and where I install my apps. Anything that is important is shoved off to a set of big, slow IDE drives that are running in a Raid 1 configuration.

So MTBF really doesn't matter to me, as when one of the drives fails it takes me a grand total of 18 minutes to reinstall Windows XP (timed it), add in another hour for driver configuration and updates, and I'm back to where I was before the drive failed.

Raid 0 can work out just fine, as long as your realize its limitations and store your data accordingly.

I recently read a few postings on usenet and slashdot regarding your wireless router. It seems that there is now a feature that will redirect you to an advertisement for your censorware products every 8 hours unless they opt out. I find this troubling and disconcerting to say the least, as the days of trusting a companies' motives are long since gone. Simply put, a router's job is to do just that route packets. When you start injecting your advertisements into the process you compromise the integrity of your product. Going forward, how am I to know that your router is not doing something that could compromise my network under the guise of being a feature. There had to be the understanding that this would be poorly received by individuals who already possess technical knowledge. I personally do not own your networking products, but have used your cabling for quite a few years. And as a technical person who runs a small business helping other small businesses with technical issues, I play an intregal part in their purchasing decisions.

You may have intended for it to be easier for non-technical people to sign up for your service, but did you stop and think how a non-technical person decides on a Belkin product? It isn't your marketing, its the the co-worker/relative/friend of a friend that fixes their computer that they ask for buying tips. And it is exactly these people that are most offended by your actions.

I, like a lot of other techies that read this, will not be recommending your product in the future until you stop this practice and apologize to your customer base.

    Thank you,

I bought the Pioneer DVR-A05 dvd-r/rw burner. I must say that I love it! I, like a lot of people, have a home file server that I share all my files and music from. I had been making periodic backups onto other hard drives, but have found it be cumbersome and expensive. In an afternoon I was able to back up my server and all other important information onto dvd-r's and save a lot of money to boot.

If you shop around for media, you can find blanks pretty cheap. I think the ones I'm using now cost 1.26 a piece, which is much cheaper than hard drives.

As for movies, I bought my dvd player and burner around the same to time to ensure compatibility. I also have found that ALL of my friends home DVD players can play movies that I have recorded. And I think it would be fair to say, that most of the players have been purchased within the last two years. Of course, your experiences may vary, I have just had great luck with dvd-r/rw.
