- If the U.S. unilaterally goes to war, and it is anything short of a quick surgical strike (lasting less than 30 days), the economists were all predicting extreme economic gloom: falling dollar value, rising spot market oil prices, the Fed pushing interest rates down towards zero with resulting increase in national debt, severe trouble in all countries whose currency is guaranteed agains the dollar (which is just about everybody except the EU), a near cessation of all development and humanitarian programs for poor countries. Very few economists or ministers of finance predicted the world getting out of that economic funk for minimally five-10 years, once the downward spiral ensues.
if I understand this correctly, everybody, except the Euro-using countries, is f***ed... So long the US being the rulers of the universe...
yeah, but it has strings attached such as making ISP responsible for policing user web sites (hell, think about censorship coming). more info here (in French, but you can have a good laugh using google translation services;-) )
So this brings up the question, what would cost to produce a low-RPM, fixed-head harddrive for todays PC's? Given todays storage densities, it would seem the cost of the control mechanism required to correctly position the head must be a significant portion of the cost of the drive. That sounds about right, considering the 10 EUR difference between a 60 and a 120 G drive in the same brand/series;-)
The rigidity of the metric system leads to absurd units... a cup is like 253 mL, 1/3 of a liter is 333 mL, etc... and the use of both systems at the same time yields to planetary probes losses and all (zillions USD worth)
now, somebody will have to explain to me why companies that build *hardware* such as PBX's use dongles to protect the software... dammit, you won't even know what to do with the CDs if you don't have the hardware...
you have forgotten one thing in your calculation. The cost of getting rid of more equipment (when it's dead) in the case of product B, which is about the same for each instance as product A. Say, for example, recycling product A or B costs about 10, then product A is cheaper for society.
I remember my first TRS 80 computer Mee too... It still works... It's in the basement currently for lack of space in the main part of the apartment, but I'm sure I can revive it just by plugging it in the mains...
we DO ultimatly have control via the Vote. ;-)
ahem... you seem to have messed up badly the last time
using these really cool devices called street signs. ;-)
seems that some cities in the states don't know what these are

well, there is one particular drawback... those americans that are fond of their body cleanliness will now be extremely stinky...
Then again, we have had the IRA and friends (and enemies!) on our doorstep for over twenty-five years now...
if only the brits would stop trying to seize a piece of ireland like they have been for the last, say, 400 years, there would be no IRA to talk about

You should use a filesystem that is intended for use with flash devices, such as jffs.
