In stargate SG1, all computers (besides the ones on earth) are composed of lighted gems that are attatched to supports... real insigth from the writers ???
there is a russian lab producing gem diamonds (1 carat) for 100 USD each, that are totally indistinguishable from the others. (besides the laser coding)
First, I'd like to know what the editors are doing, I had that story 8 hours before... * 2003-07-23 22:57:45 Gutemberg's bible digitized (yro, books) (rejected) of course, it got rejected without explanation...
The second thing is that, as I said in that submission, something isn't right... If you read the pages where you can see one of the bible's page, you can read the following legalese. "Further reproduction of any of the Gutenberg Bible images without the written consent of the Ransom Center is prohibited. Inquiries regarding the availability of higher-resolution digital images for research or publication should be directed to the Center's staff."
What does that mean, considering this book is old enough to belong to all of humanity, hence these images should be useable by any one for any purpose ?
Hi, You could use those pic+eeprom silver cards which contain about 8kbyte of memory on the card and a powerfull pic processor... I use them in a gpg-certificate handling system
There is the french system in which there is number of little piles of letter/8 papers with each pile having ONE candidate's name written on it. The citizen takes one each of the papers and a little enveloppe. hides in the booth, puts whichever paper in the enveloppe, puts all the others in his pocket and gets out the booth. goes to show his National ID card (could be Driver licence, whatever) and then drops the enveloppe in a CLEAR PLEXIGLAS box where all enveloppes can be seen (the enveloppes being dark, you can't see through them, that's the point;-))
Then at the end of the day, the table are re-arranged, an official dude comes up with 2 cops and a public notary, and opens the (paddlocked to that point) plexiglas box. then the count starts. A counting official takes each enveloppe one by one, and opens it, checks the contents (with everybody watching) and assesses the contents (that is, they count the ballots). after no more than an hour or so, they fax the result sheet to the central station to be counted for the city, then for the departement (similar to a state) then to paris.
no, it's not "optimised" for 5 concurrent connections. It counts the connections, and when there are more than 5, it slows down on purpose with hints in the system log that you should upgrade to MSSQL server...
Well, of course, it was not a copy machine. The management at Xerox seems to downplay anything that is not a copy machine, and tries to bury it as fast as they can.
ok. I have seen that and have an explanation. the rubber seems to melt and starts to stick to the plastic of the adjacent keys. when I removed the rubber thingie and used the plastic joystick thing, it would not do it, ever...
you are mistaken. It actually IS interesting to have a larger resolution. The thing is that windows and other classic interfaces are really conceived with one size of fonts in mind. I currently use Gnome 2.2, with Xft2 and have set up the proper values in the DPI settings in my X server, and the fonts are readable and really crisp. they are about twice the size they would normally be, but the glyphs are much nicer. I am eagerly waiting for the QUXGA monitors with 200 DPI...
sounds like the nvnet.o driver...
and there is the doc for the previous version... (there's probably not much difference)

of course, as most of those stations belong to ClearChannel Broadcasting...
I say, put these guys on bikes with a generator attached, and pay them with a bowl of rice for every megawatt produced :D
however, these stars are thousands of light years away, and we didn't find a stargate in gizeh...
easy, use mplayer on linux... instant play

however, there's a problem... how will people be able to write proprietary binary drivers ???

it's called 70mm film, such as the one they had at the Gaumont Italie when I saw the movie for the first time...
