    so how does the ram or cpu get grounded. Just because I am now currently at the same static charge as the grounded unit, the ram or cpu may still be at a different charge.

    It was all part of Microsoft's plan. There was a time I referred to most of my Linux systems as either X-Terminals or X-Boxes. Microsoft was able to kill the later which seemed to cause the death of the former rather abruptly.

    So what exactly does a static strap do that just placing your hand on the frame not do? 20 years working with electronics and I've never seen a confirmed static destroyed equipment outside of manufacturing. A few anecdotes like yours, yes, but I've even tested by trying to destroy circuit boards with static. It is something that is extremely important in manufacturing prior to everything being mounted and grounded, not so much afterward.

    Back in my youth, I never made regular backups.
    Then I got a virus.
    Since then, I run Linux. (and occasionally backup)

    They want good users to test as to filter out the bugs.

    They filter out the good users by making it non-obvious to find the RC.

    If you can't find the RC then you probably aren't going to be very useful.

    Welcome to vocabulary 101.

    Dark matter is a hypothesis to support observations.

    It is not yet a theory because there isn't anything testable and reproducible to find it yet, and predictions can't be made using it.

    Intelligent Design is not a theory either. There is no tests to see if something was intelligently designed.

    For science a theory's exact rightness or wrongness is irrelevant if it can be used to make predictions. The more predictions that it makes that are true the more wight it will carry. If a prediction comes up wrong then the theory get's tuned. Rarely will an established theory get 100% disproved and thrown out.

    Voting for the nutbag will give you the best long term effect. If someone loses an election due to votes lost to the nutbag they'll re-evaluate the good ideas that the nutbag has and try to incorporate them.

    Switched sides? Both sides are against each other in how much they can intrude into our lives. It's not a for or against intrusion, its a for my intrusion party intrusion and against your party intrusion.

    Democrats and Republicans may have some core ideal differences but the end result is more government. The power you let your party have now is the power the other party will use when it's their turn.
