Does anyone know if the psx2 is going to be able to render the 3d images of psx1 games better? would it be like playing on un-accelerated pc and a pc with a voodoo3? Just wondering if that is a possibility.
and with some exceptions, only makes sense when it's networked together with other Windows 2000 machines.
Does this bother anyone else? This just sounds more like the crap that Microsoft trys to do with making sure that you can't run anything except Microsoft crap. I can't even send someone a wp8 document and them be able to open it in word 2000. Why not? I can open almost any word doc in word perfect. It is this kind of deliberately being incomputable that makes me hate m$.
I know its not the best way but the best way to fix this is to just add
' xhost 127.0.0.1
in your.xinitrc or.xsession script. that way it will allow connections from other users on your system. Of course this means that other people will be able to popup windows on your desktop if they are loged into your machine. lots of fun if you have xroach installed:)

find your lack of faith disturbing Darth Vader on the subject of open sourcing the death star plans
This is funny, If the DeathStar plans would have been open source from the begining then they most likely would have found the ventelation duct security hole before the actual construction of the thing started. Wow, maybe open source isn't such a good idea. If the DeathStar plans were open source the Rebles would not have made it out of that battle alive.
NO MORE OPEN SOURCE THE EVIL EMPIRE WILL USE IT AGAINST US!!!!!

I would almost have to prais microsoft in this also. I don't think they have ever had this kind of turnaround time on bug fixing. Only 2 weeks? I mean usually it is months before you can get a bug fix. Once M$ is able to fix a bug either before it is found or within 24 hours of its appearance then they may be able to compete with the uprise of Open Source.
far more aggressive or do they just have far more reason. If we are to equate this to the problems found in the 2.2.0 kernel release that was fixed in less than 24 hours compared to this much larger problem in w2k that was there for more than 2 weeeks before they did anything for it.
How about if instead of all damage/movement/ammo/armor etc handled by the server what if the server just had a way of checking as the game was being played. then labeling someone as a cheater. this could acually be kind of fun if the server then had a way of lowering someones stats without their client knowing it and marking them with bright pink paint and a sign that says cheater on top or something.
It's not so much the ext2 partion as the swap partition that I have ever had problems with and msfdisk thinks that it is a logical drive and that you have to delete the primary yet there is no primary to delete. Only way to get around it was to either use debug or a linux fdisk utility. The ArsonSmith
Documentation from the Warren Commission and the House Selected Committee on assassinations both tell you who killed John F. Kennedy. and they are all released to the public.
of course it was Lee Harvy Oswald.

So they might not be able to get it to work right under win either. ever try to get an old monitor that doesn't auto detect up and running in anything above 640x480 on windows? I have several times but I have had to help several hundred people in getting theirs setup doing tech support for a major computer manufaturer a year ago. ArsonSmith
I think the main difference here is that linux users addition to a problem is a lot more critical. With an operating system that is created by the people they will take a lot closer look at it. With NT we know it sux its expected to crash, leak memory, freeze etc... I see people here complaining that their X server crashes on them at least once a week, or once a month, or once a year. When you hear of people crashing windows it usually starts with once a day, then once a week etc... I have yet to see linux crash for a non hardware related problem even then it does well at working around crappy hard ware. I have also had the chance to work with linux on several different systems well into the hundreds and possibly close to the thousands.

When someone gives something to someone else isn't that distributing? If it was all just internel and not affected by copyright laws then that would mean our company could have 30 employees with windows98 and we only need one licence to the president. The rest wouldn't be distribution because it is all internal. The only way you can not distibute something is if all changes are kept by you, an individual.
Well, I guess now the race is on. Will Daryll Straus working for free for 3dfx come up with support for voodoo3 3d on linux first or will nVidia and TNT2 come up first. I like that 3dfx has allready released full specs for 2d on there banshee and voodoo3 cards.
Wow, I think I just reilezed why people would say "linux 5.2" anyone ever look at the redhat box? as I was reading this I looked up at my redhat 5.1 and redhat 5.2alpha boxes on the shelf and they have "redhat LINUX 5.2" with redhat in very small almost unseeable letters. If I didnt know better I would think it was linux 5.x. ohh well I dont think it is a bad thing though really. but as soon as I see MSLinux2000 then I will be scared.
>actively promote things used almost exclusively for illegal activities
Wow, what a narrow scope you have. I own several guns, along with several people that I know that all have guns. I know of nobody that uses them for illegal activities except the occasional shooting of glass bottles. useing them exclusively for illegal activities just tells me that you watch way too much tv. Get a life and spend some time in the real world.
Acually I think they just lost the source code

Yea, I think the Xfree86 project is the best. We should adopt its name for the OS, ohh wait I think apple already did that with OSX. ohh well.
ArsonSmith
no it is not Unix, It just has a unix like interface and uses GNU tools. Linux "is" it's own operating system, and a damn good one at that.
ArsonSmith
so does this make it not a project?
