    I work in a hedge fund, most developers, managers, traders and directors occasionally wear hoodies.
    Regardless of what job you do, if you spend 10 hours of your day at a desk, what matters is being comfortable.

    That's not how you check whether a binary tree is balanced.

    It's scary how some so-called "software engineers" can't even solve such a trivial problem.

    My wife has been wanting a Mac desktop for a while.
    We still haven't bought anything because their line-up is just bad, plus they decided to raise their prices significantly using the fall of the British pound as an excuse.

    Mac OS X is unusable as it is. The default terminal is shit for example.
    It is like Windows, you need to install plenty of software that you manually download from third parties to make it somewhat usable.

  23. You still have to work at fixed hours, sometimes stuck on a silly shifts, with the stress of dealing immediately with many requests as they come in, and even by the end of your career you'll be happy if you even reach 6 figures.

    Developers on the other hand have an easy life, working whenever they please, and get paid a lot more from the get-go.

    Most mathematicians I know are clueless about floating-point arithmetic. You need someone with specialized knowledge in both numerical stability and computer architecture to use floating-point correctly.
