The open-source community has mostly shifted to BSD-style licenses these past few years, which has lead to a huge influx of people being paid to work on open-source projects, career prospects for people working on open-source in their own time, and generally better technology. All you get by using copyleft is loneliness and obsolescence.

If those indiscretions were not taboo, there would be no concern of potential blackmail about them. Getting rid of the taboos is a much more sensible way to address the problem than requiring government officials to satisfy some false image of the ideal man.

That's not true at all. If you're competent, there are plenty of companies that want to hire you. The employee is therefore free to work with whatever employer he prefers, based on what the role, compensation or other perks are.
