I think it is most likely because we have all seen MS say this exact sort of thing before, only to have them pull some kind of trick at the end. It is like crying wolf. Eventually no one believes you, even if you are (now) being honest.
Actually that is a very good point. These people seem to think countries outside the US are all backwater dumps. Parts of them are (as are plenty of places here) but that doesn't mean they don't have some brilliant people. We will end up importing ideas as well as goods with things like ACTA. At least until our printing presses stop printing money.
I've seen a few guys who had ears big enough you might be able to cram a netbook into each one, but most people need something a bit smaller, so you're probably right.
I think it comes down to the sad fact that most people aren't good at their jobs. They tend to rise to one level above where they are actually competent, and stay there. And from my experience, they aren't usually very happy in whatever that position is, which (and IMHO) might be the reason that people in modern societies are often less happy (overall) than people in less advanced societies. Not many people enjoy that.
It's in 3D, which much like "...on a computer" and patents, completely changes everything. And yes, I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow with my wife,;^P
Depends on who your doctors are, I guess. My grandfather just died last Valentines day. Almost a year ago he had a heart attack that put him into the hospital and they said he needed a quadruple bypass, but that he lungs were too damaged (from emphysema) and he would be on life support the rest of his life (if he even survived at all). They said they'd do it if he wanted, but they recommended against it. So he went home and prepared to die. A few more heart attacks and months later, he seemed to be doing a bit better (he was able to walk around the block occasionally), and then about a week before Valentine's Day he suddenly got much worse and died.
Sometimes, but not always. Here in Oregon the Governor at the time hired a friend to update the DMV computer system, she went way over budget (I seem to recall something like $400 million vs $200 million budgeted) and at the end, it was so messed up they rolled back to the old system! This wasn't the first thing she had completed messed up, from what I recall, either. Sometimes nepotism or other poor administration problems are the real culprit.
IIRC, they did that because of problems with the system (it failed to detect some valid store bought CDs or with certain drives, or wasn't able to do it reliably for some reason.)
Only a Starship made by Toyota not have a de-warping system of some kind.
Not to mention the submitter didn't read the article. It isn't Hello World, and it isn't in C (at least not by the end of the article).

So what you're saying is I should never let you interview for any position I offer? Did you do something to anger a Gypsy or something?
Same with me on both Windows and Linux machines. The only thing that really stops me is the portability factor.
And just as there are some things that the government should NOT be allowed to keep secret, for example the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment.

Wasn't that what the Reformation was about? ;^)
I remember the old days, when businesses just hired twits to run them.

And California has 234 people per sq. mile, what's your point? They don't have 1Gb to the home available, do they?
My sarcasm detector is on the fritz, did you drop this /s? I honestly can't tell.
My guess would be politics.

Thanks a lot. Now I feel old...
It reminds me of the time I got a good drive from Newegg but I damaged it during installation and sent it back saying it didn't work.
I can get a new game to start in VirtuaBox, but the mouse pointer doesn't work. Too bad, it was a fun game, back in the day.

Or, I don't know, someone using this same technology?
Damn, it ate my Zombie Sally Struthers tags.
Won't someone think of the zombies???
Kids can become zombies, too. Won't someone think of the zombie children??? For one 11 cents a day, you too can feed brains to a zombie child!
I seem to recall the Necronomicon mentioning that as a way to summon (but not bind!) a Byakhee...
