    Does people still think of choosing Linux because of the annoyances from Windows? I mean, many people prefer Linux --- and I only use Windows when I am forced to ---, but I think any Linux user must have their own reasons for that, which must be beyond avoiding Windows' handicaps.

    Regardless, the real question is how do we strap these things to a shark's head.

    It's can't just 'strap' a laser weapon to a shark's head because of the constraints Newtonian Physics and Euclidean Geometry. However, you can achieve something like that with some workarounds from Quantum Mechanics. <|:-)

    In my city the less illuminated streets are the ones with more crime. There may or may not be a causation --- here is 3rd world, not Great Britain. I am wondering if lack of street light correlates with more crime because it is the neighborhoods the politicians care less about; if that is so, less street lights in such neighborhoods will signal that authorities really don't care, and it may increase crime.
    To some it all: that's Great Britain; don't try it in at your hometown.

    In my perception, the social network many people may have fled from was Orkut, after it become crowded with Brazilians.

    Which is super stupid, because Orkut was associated with Google and had 500M users, more than G+ could ever hope to have. The logical thing would be to use ORKUT as the basis for a new platform.

    I'm a Brazilian myself, so I cannot form a valid opinion about that.

    The "masturbators" where punished, nonetheless. But that none were fired is quite surprising. Watching porn is one of the reasons to an employee be justifiably fired here in Brazil, but that is because unjustifiably firing here is quite costly. I think that you should push for harsher punishment for civil servants using state resources to watching porn.

    It's not so well understood. It's too complicated and not quite predictable. Even the lowering of temperature in some areas may have been caused by climate change nonetheless. The main reason why climate change is scary is that we can't be sure of the actual consequences.

    If I recollect right, the figure that 2014 was the warmest year in record appeared in /. already. An if I recollect one more thing right, the winter in the East Coast of US was deemed exceptionally chilling. I think it's hard to convince human-related climate change sceptics within this situation.
    I have noticed that here in São Paulo the best time to talk about greenhouse effect is during the hottest days of the Summer, even though the rise in temperature downtown has more to do with deforestation and concrete than with greenhouse effect.

    I've attended a Language & Literature course in Brazil, where people are more verbose--and the very words longer---, and my longer syllabus was 4 page long. So a 15 page syllabus is quite unusual.

    It's a sad truth that too much people fail to perceive the fallacy in this train of reasoning: if scientists cannot explain, then it's beyond science; and if it's beyond science, then this esoteric explanation must be right. Now just because some aspects of quantum mechanics are counterintuitive, some folks think they can invocate "Quantum Physics" as if it was some kind of god that justify their theories.

    If I've got my calculations right, to complete the downloading of that amount of data in a single day, it would need a 37,9259 Mib/s bandwidth -- 37,9255 Mib/s on last 6/30 --, which is quite trivial in some places.

    Uber effectively pays this much:
    $5 - 2.80 = $2.20.
    So driver and accomplice make $2.20/2 = $1.10 each.

    The price for the OS is included in the price of a Mac computer, so you pay for it somehow. However, your comment makes me remember how things are different in different countries. In Brazil, the Macs are so more expensive that no one would ever say that anything that comes in it is free.

    Microsoft, Apple, what's the difference? Both want to steal money from devs and control users with walled gardens.

    Or you can use Linux and have more annoyances for free.

    Frankly, I can't get how so many people still want to pay so much for an OS, when you can just download one for free and pay as much as you consider reasonable, if you feel uneasy with the free of charge thing.

    In the end they all look the same, until you hit into problems.
