Yeah, I've heard it integrates better with Outlook than Notes.
In fairness to RIM, the damaged units could be neglect on the part of the user. I think some people resent having them since they are now expected to be available by email 24/7.
From a support perspective, these Blackberries have been a nightmare for us. The well publicised RIM server problems (which my users think is *my* fault), problems with the synchronization software on Windows, problems integrating with Lotus Notes, how fragile the units are (I had a user break 2 LCD screens in one week by dropping them), and problems ungrading to newer models.. If RIM gets sued into oblivion and we stop using the damn Blackberries, that would make my day.
I actually did some research on the Dvorak keyboard, and it turns out that there isn't much evidence that it's any better than Qwerty. Dvorak himself gave a lot of statistics which others haven't been able to reproduce. Mind you, I haven't invested the time to learn the Dvorak keyboard, so I can't say for sure. I'd be interested to hear from people who actually use it.
WW:Well, I went out and conducted a very serious scientific poll, and I discovered that strippers and pornstars are turned on by guys in Think Geek T-shirts with Slashdot IDs between 129188 and 129190. Hope this helps.
Does a blank T-shirt and my user ID come close enough?
Good point, that's true. I have a pre-conceived notion that most people use Hotmail as throw-away addresses, but I'm sure there are a lot people who've been using it a long time.
And it is a bit worrying as to what Google's long range plans are. As much as I like G-Mail and other Google services, I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay for it.
Speaking of aesthetics, I wonder why he cut out a space for the power supply fan on the back.
Anyway, it's kind of a cool idea (no pun intended). It would be neat to get like a hundred of these fans and wire them all up into a huge block, then hand that from the ceiling. The ultima nerd ceiling fan!:-)
That's one of the most inovative ideas I've heard in quite some time. This could really spark the developement of gaming technology on Linux! I imagine the video card manufacturers could get on board with this and start supplying better drivers, since it could be a bit more of a controlled environment.
You could even use USB memory sticks to save game state, which is probably cheaper than buying the memory card for most consoles, leading to a genre of diskless game-only PC's.
I wonder if a stripped down version of Knoppix or some other distro would be close to providing the environment. Definately a cool project for someone slightly more ambitous than me!:-)
I was talking to a banker about farmers once (I don't know how it came up), but farmers will routinely come in move $100,000 or more from one account to another or one bank to another, depending on the season or what equipment they're buying. They obviously aren't getting rich at farming, but they do have a lot of money tied up in assets and can have large sums of cash on hand at certain times of the year. So never underestimate people!:-)
Reminds me of some wise words I learned in grade school -- never pick a fight with the fat kid, they are usually a lot stronger than they look!
Rodi or Rodia ( or ) means pomegranate in Greek. The Rodi program is a tiny P2P client/host (under 300K of binary code) implemented in pure Java. It's network use is similar to the bitTorrent concept. The program will serve the filesharing community with fast data delivery and serve the Open Source community by facilitating faster software deployment.
If 90% of the cars on the road were Kia, then your analogy would be a good one. Truth is people are willing to spend extra on a car for comfort, features, safety, reputation/reliability and image.

Presumably the phone could covert incoming morse code to text if someone bothered wrote the software.

Not even close, apparantly...
Just a joke .. I'm as guilty of it as anyone, I run Linux servers but Windows desktops.
No, they run Windows, they only say they run *nix.
I wonder if one these new drives dies without being triggered (all drives die eventually..), would you get a refund? ;-)
If I need to publish my issue on a blog to get it resolved, that doesn't say much for the company.

I wonder if G-Mail will be out of Beta by then? That could be an interesting opertunity for Google.
Anyway, G-Mail is already so superior to Hotmail, in both the interface and spam blocking, I can't imagine why people still use Hotmail.
Well, the good news is that you're allowed to chop off the offenders hands when caught.
Besides posting on Slashdot and playing Monopoly, do you do any work? :-)
Modern day floppy disks (both 5.25" and 3.5") are greatly inferior to the disks from the 80's and 90's, in my experience.
Now on Pay Per View: UFC:Nerds!
Or better yet, New on Fox: When Nerds Attack!

Probably her b/f doesn't have $3,000,000.

Assuming you have no backups, that could really be a problem. Everyone does keep backups, right?
But will the letter be composed in MS Word, that's the real question. ;-)
When I read the headline I thought it was going to be about the latest Windows security hole...
