Works fine for me -- Firefox 1.0 and Win XP SP2. I mapped out my commute from work to home and it's perfect, the exact route I take (other map sites seem to give really strange directions at times). This test was in the Toronto area, btw.
Paypal was just used as an example, it could be any site. But on the other hand, if I'm going to my bank's web site, or some other trusted site, I will usually type in the URL or select it from my bookmarks, not click a link in a suspicious email.
And I *really* would not appreciate having to come in to work on a Monday morning a kick a bum out of my desk. And God knows what he was doing on my computer...
Microsoft is doing what it always does: Focusing on what most of their customers are most concerned about. Most users don't care about stuff like how strong the encryption is, and most don't even use it. Most users think using the password feature in Winzip is good enough. Microsoft has never been focused on niche markets, or the concerns of small groups of users.
I'm not surprised they are doing this, I though they would have done it years ago. But there is a big side affect to this -- Worms, viruses and spyware will spread like wildfire on these pirated, unpatched machines. I mean, the problem is bad now, but it will get much worse.
Or is this a tactic to drive sales of MS's new anti-spyware software?
I have been using Lotus Notes as an email client for about seven months now since I came to a new job and as far as I am concerned it is a steaming pile of horse manure. I'll have four or five other programs running just fine and as soon as I fire up Lotus the whole works slows down to a crawl
Somethings configured wrong on your PC.. I've been using Notes for years and never had problems like you describe. Do you have a reliable network connection? Are you using replication? (you should be for any server that is not local) Are your replicated databases on your local PC or on a network share? Do you have enough RAM?
The P2P developers need gun lobbyists on their side! Since when was a gun developed that took "reasonable care" in preventing accidental death? The gun should be able to detect human presence and not fire a round! Yeah, it might cost a lot of money and time to develop that feature but we have to make sure that people don't use it the wrong way!
Yeah, but the potential loss of revenue due to file sharing is much higher than people killing each other in the streets, get your priorities straight, buddy! This is America!:-)
Forget about creepy Tsunami fish, or rampant Dupes, this story is a new low for Slashdot.
I have a book report by my 13 year old neice if the Slashdot editors are interested...
On the Tron DVD, the director mentions this in the commentatry, he did it on his own as a thank-you to Disney for making the movie, it's not like Disney told him to do it.
I've been running version 3.0 for well over a year with no problems, heck my current home server is currently sitting at 289 days of uptime, running kernel 2.4.18. Now I gotta reset my uptime in order to upgrade to Sarge!
Just call it the Desperate Housewive's Edition and it will get plenty of attention!
(That's the name of a popular tv show, for the over-seas readers..)

Man, and I thought it would be embarrasing to go to court over MP3 downloading...

But there aren't any Ogg files on Kazaa... ;-)
People used to laugh at me for using an 18 year old dot-matrix printer ... now who's laughing! Mhuhahaahhahaha!
...and prevent users from refilling ink cartridges with "inferior" third-party ink.

Doesn't Google have an option to translate from ID-Ten to English?
