You can help speed it up some by disabling the parallax effect and by limiting what Spotlight Search has to index. My battery is slightly worse as well, I think. Turning off location services and background updating (among others) can help older hardware run smoother and longer./4s owner
After a jb on iOS6, I installed an app that allowed for speeding up of animations. Made it feel like a new phone and the native iOS speed felt incredibly slow. They do need to speed up animations in iOS.
Siri on the other hand can often take several seconds to understand a request, even under iOS 7. To me, this more than anything else is what diminishes the user experience.
And this is why I don't use it. The network lag to get a response, while usually quick, is slow enough that I'd rather not wait most of the time for simple, quick tasks. If it had on-board recognition and processing instead of throwing it to Apple servers it would be much more useful (to me), as long as it's on-board results were good. Now I just use it mainly to dictate long text messages or while in the car.
For Siri to really start to be more useful it will need to be always on like some of those Android phones and it will need to understand context more. For instance, you can program in only your "home" and "work" for locations. Anything else though is not understood unless you substitute something in for one of those. "Remind me when I get to Target to get eggs" Siri:"I don't know who Target is" or it is a simple reminder that has nothing to do with location based services. I would have to change my "work" to the stores/destinations address and use the term 'work' when talking about it.
Some elaborate dead man switch about a gag order? No judge will take kindly to such shenanigans. Just make it simple, contact a trusted news reporter/Wikileaks securely or via an anonymous 3rd/4th party you have arranged ahead of time and have them publish.
5C will replace the "free" 4S model at the big providers. This gives them a lower cost option while at the same time speeding up the adoption of the new screen size and lightning port. Plus it will be a lower cost option for emerging markets where Apple is getting killed by cheap Android sets. So in a way the "C" stands for Color, China, Cheap.
I preordered mine. Skipped the last gen and just had a Wii. With a young family and not much time to game it was fine. Kids are getting older and I like what MS showed off so I'm in. I'm really curious to see what can be hacked with the Kinnect2 as well.
Being as they are nearly sold out of the launch date consoles, it seems to be doing just fine. I'm not a fanboy of either but the XB seemed to have more family oriented setup with the Kinnect.
Well, it only works if your employees are living in impoverished places to begin with. Like they said, it's only about $300 each. To a factory worker in China, that's a big deal. If Steve Ballmer did the same thing, it probably wouldn't be such a big deal, as they are a software company (mostly) and the majority of their workers probably don't see $300 as such a big deal. I mean, as a developer I would like an extra $300 at the end of the year, but it's not really going to change my life that much, especially after you subtract taxes.
Same with my tech company but we haven't had bonuses (or raises) for a couple years. I'd definitely take the free lunch money no matter the amount!
If it's also a phone and doesn't need another phone to work, I want one.
I am more concerned that these devices seem to be full computers themselves. I am looking forward to a smartwatch, but having the large screen, with large battery, with large processing power in my big pockets. I would rather a watch be a dumb device and your smart device being your phone.
While true and I'd like to see it too, I wonder if Palm's history isn't a gauge to think about. It was a different time for sure (a whole 6 years ago!) but they tried to release the Foleo to be a companion to their smartphones but due to tech writers and others outcry, it never was launched. Sure it's just another accessory to your phone like a cover or speaker or something but I would imagine the market is pretty small for smart watches that only work with a particular brand.
Partially corrected, found it was the Cloud Print Server that I was using instead of the Cloud Print software.
But still cannot print, even though printers show online and can print via Chrome. It just gives me an "in Progress" status whether logged in to my VPN or not.
I have used cloud print for my wireless printer for quite a while for home or mobile use. Though always through Chrome browser.
Perhaps I've missed an obvious step but after loading the Cloud Print for Windows I cannot seem to find a way to connect my work PC to my homes Cloud Print printer. As with many that work from home, I log into the company network via VPN. While on Chrome I can easily print to it but have not found a way to print to it using any Office app as it doesn't load drivers for a "Cloud Print Printer". Cloud Print for Windows just wants to add my works networked printers to the cloud which is worthless to me.
From their help section it says to go to the cloud printer management page and select print, upload the file to print. That seems far less than ideal. If I can't set it as my default printer in windows, then it's near worthless to me.
There were 6 white jurors in the Zimmerman trial. What are the odds of getting 6 white jurors? What are the odds of getting heads 6 times in a row?
Do you even know how juries are selected? Both sides get a say in who is selected out of the pool of potential jurors. So b/c they are white they cannot be impartial and are racist?
For phones it's ridiculous (though possibly harmless) but what about ATM's and other touch screens that can be used by hundreds, possibly thousands, of people each day?
Come on. ATMs, really? Wouldn't door knobs, faucet and toilet knobs, stair railings and cart handles be a much higher priority? These are all things you puts your hands on that have been touched by thousands other people. So where do you stop then?
Those are all nice but the subject at hand is screens and uses for anti-bacterial glass. I guess you could make it into those things but many metals have built in anti-bacterial properties.
Simply stated, our masters have no desire to reduce the cost of healthcare because there is too much money to be made from a completely captive audience. Whether you take the capitalist point of view or the socialist point of view, the end result is the same - we the people get screwed out of our earnings and don't have a choice in the matter. The status quo is maintained.
As someone with a spouse the provides high level medical care, I would agree. But what is the alternative? High level of skill for modern medicine requires a lot of training (many times specialized), continuing school, and malpractice ins. That cost must be passed on to consumers else you will have provider shortages and more problems. The doctors at my spouses hospital already are overworked. They should rely on PA's, Nurse Practitioners and other tier 2 providers to help ease the work load and reduce costs on less complicated procedures. The problems come when you have [numerous] intermediaries that take their cut of the pie as well. But it's a tradeoff, hospitals around here are doing well and expanding with local clinics and such. I wouldn't want to be going to a barely breaking even hospital or one where their staff is not paid well.
The driver doesn't need that many distractions. A radio is fine. Hooking up to your playlists is fine. Anything beyond that isn't.
I'd agree and say the latest multimedia screens along with a mouse type input are bordering on ridiculous (and gaudy - Lexus at least). I can't imagine trying to use one of those in a vehicle. As for connecting to your mobile, numerous companies have joined with at least 2 companies to at least get the media over to the car and the other can actually interact with the phone.
But what is "needed" is a way to play music (bluetooth) and maps and voice interaction.
Do you have any gay friends or family members? If you do, ask them if they chose to be gay.
Those telling you it is a lifestyle or lifestyle choice are deceiving you.
You seem to have missed my point, let me state it a different way. You may or may not be able to choose who you are attracted to, you most definitely choose who you sleep with, surround yourself with, and the actions you take on how you live. There is a difference.
Gay citizens are no different than Baptist citizens other than Baptist weren't born Baptist. Religion is a lifestyle choice, being gay is not. My sister chose to switch from Baptist to Catholic, my sister in law didn't choose to be gay.
Being attracted to the same sex may or may not be a choice, science has yet to prove it or find any "gay gene", but acting gay and choosing a homosexual lifestyle most certainly is a choice. Unless you are mindless robots not in control of your actions?
I see, so you're basically using the 4G hotspot as your phone service (via wifi). I would assume it has some limitations on coverage? Plus the fact that you have to carry two devices. Do you get decent throughput via the hotspot? I'd love to have some competition for the local cable ISP but for the speeds I desire (10-20MBps) at a reasonable cost, they are really the only option currently. I see a lot of the pros, including primarily cost, of such a solution. What are some cons?
I have these exact problems with it and use it the same. I only give out my real number to personal circles and then hey! I got a text/vm, go to the app to check it and it's not there, refresh slowly, finally can listen to what was actually said. Really bad app but the service is very helpful in keeping work and personal separate. Plus with selective ringtone for the GV number, I know if it's work calling or not.
I use GV as my phone number. I haven't paid for cell service in years.
I'm not sure I follow how these are related. Are you giving up the convenience of a mobile to only buy minutes through GV on a computer/laptop on wifi?
Indeed since it is a freshwater lake, the ecosystem would undergo quite a change but currently it's being "attacked" by tons of sewage pumped into it each day. Lake Nicaragua

The difference is that you have to tithe Apple $5 for a license.
FTFY; the word 'pay' just doesn't seem sanctimonious enough.
I don't believe you have the correct definition of what "tithe" means.

The key points missing from this summary ...
Yes, but the key points included in the summary are that OP uses it as the background for his XBMC machine! Shouldn't everyone know that?!
Am I supposed to know what they are talking about here? Where is this going? Why? What is a bottom head used for? Vogtle Unit 3??
Yes you should know, it was used as the background on his XBMC machine, duh!
Jobs foolishness is tanking Apple big time.
You have an odd definition of tanking.
You get two choices, pay the fair rate, or negotiate an alternative. Apple is apparently unwilling to do either.
Because there are more than just two choices available.
