It's too bad Google doesn't have one of those things where you can watch everyone's search scrolling down the screen live. I bet there would be a lot of "pictures of mountains" searches right about now.
I think some engine had that (metacrawler)? back in the day, was fun to watch, and I believe they didnt censor it.
Maybe someone here can help me, since we are on the discussion of MHz Myth and all that.
Usually when this comes up, people mention that FLOPs is a pretty good way to determine the speed of a computer, much better than MHz anyhow. My question is, is there a site where you can go to see how many FLOPs a particular CPU does? Or is it a function of more than just the chip itself, so its different on everyone's machine? I remember when I ran mandrake on my P2 Laptop right at boot it told me how many FLOPs I was doing. Is there any such utility for a windows box?
Or am I confused, and FLOPs also suck as a determinent of CPU speed?
unless you have a heated garage in North Dakota (which I confess I had) your car is not that toasty warm come morningtime. It sure cuts down on the random snow and ice, though.
I see it all the time in articles like this thrown around that we should "quit whining" because "bandwidth costs money".
My question is this. How much does bandwitdh really cost?
Not for you, but for AT&T, or some big conglomerate? It seems like it wouldn't cost more than pennies a gig, but maybe I'm ignorant as to the costs of laying cable, etc.
I understand that as a capitalist corporation they are allowed to mark it up to make money, but how much are they making. Does anyone have some facts or good links?
These same thoughts always struck me when I dialed long distance for like a nickel a minute. Perhaps I'm deranged, but it just doesnt seem like it costs the phone company a dollar for me to make a 20 minute call from New York to Boston.
I stand corrected, there is a 1 and 2 meg model at the parents site for an obscene price. I suppose thats just the nature of the hardware-keylogger market.
whats interesting about that thing, and the one the parent posted is that they only have 64-128K memory. Throw in a couple megs, its the 21st century. Then you could have some fun with the thing. Otherwise it's getting full quickly on a public computer.
agreed. I used to do AOL chat back in the day, and while I don't dispute that hordes of idiots roam AOL, if you found a intellegent chatroom (and there were intellegent chats to be found) and it had 22 people in it, you could be damn sure 22 people were at the keyboard.
I discovered IRC, and was in heaven at first... many more intellegent chatters, sometimes 50 to a channel! Then I entered, said "hi" and got 2 responses out of 50 people. What the hell is the point?
My stance on the Playstation controllers are that they have the proper buttons but not in the right places. I like the Analog stick under my thumb, like in the Gamecube controller. I dont want it off to the bottom-left so I have to have my right hand higher than my left to hold the controller.
As for the person that bought a PS2 to play PS1 games, I did, but I was sort of an exception. I was on the Nintendo train through N64, and thus missed the Playstation (and its legitimate hit games) entirely. Thus I'm having fun playing a couple new PS2 games, but also loads of old PS1 games which I'd never tried before.
I agree with the basic idea in your post, but while it may have hurt Sony, it was good for the Playstation ONE owners in the world, because they got a few extra games out of their PS1 before development for it died. Not everyone rushed to buy a PS2, and I'm sure they appreciated not having their platform abandoned so abruptly.
This is in stark contrast to nintendo, who pretty much stopped making N64 games once the cube was out. Good for their bottom line, but not good for N64 owners like me.
Man this one is begging for it!

This is just a random thought, but what if say some state like California or New York decided to divide into two parts, each getting 2 senators and thus more electoral representation per person? Is there a process for this? What kind of a vote would it require in senate? Or is it a state issue?
I think you must be confused. I don't believe there was ever a "Mario Tennis" title for the SNES.
yeah, and its really uninteresting when they censor it all out. Uninformative, too.

shows how much I know. Then again, I ride the bus. :-)
But its so cold that car owners remove their batteries out of their cars at night since they will be dead by morning.
in Grand Forks, North Dakota (100 miles south of Winnepeg, give or take) we just plugged in our cars, but to each his own.

Not if you take a world view you are not.

According to this link, I absolutely am correct. 66% of the worlds population drives on the Right side of the road, while only 34% drives on the Left.
Say what you will about my the US, but we are in the majority as far as driving on the correct side of the road.
czar is just russian for Caesar, which has pretty much become to mean leader, so it actually fits pretty well.
There is an everquest joke to be made here...
In america the average citizen is far too lazy to handle do that. Trust me.
Paul Wellstone was also like this, may he rest in peace.
I'm confused... how can an corporation be homosexual? Are any megacorps bisexual?
