At the risk of being off-topic, I'd like to address this.

Just because "Jesus" isn't every other word out of your mouth doesn't make you a "lukewarm" Christian. There is more to Christian life than going to church. I'm a Christian when I'm singing a hymn, doing volunteer work, playing a video game, eating a sandwich, and posting on Slashdot.

My faith informs my views and decisions. Switchfoot's faith obviously informs their lyrics. Why is that any worse?

Trying to keep your email address private is the modern equivalent of tilting at windmills. All it takes is one friend sending you an "e-card" or something similar, and your email address is spreading through spammers' lists faster than.. uh.. something that spreads really quickly.

Also, people don't deserve to get spammed to hell because they post their email addresses in public forums. Slashdotters take things like "don't publish your email address" for granted, but it's only common sense to us because we know how all this works. The average user has likely never heard of an email harvester.

Consider: every theorem (including algorithms) in existence today was already contained implicitly in the fundamental axioms and definitions by which it was proved. So who gets the credit?

The person who ties it all together and gives it a pretty name, of course. That's perfectly fine when it comes to theorems, since (AFAIK) there's nothing to prohibit anyone else from using the new information, as long as the original author gets credit. The problem arises when we start mixing the word "property" in with ideas.
