"A Stanley Steamer set the world record for the fastest mile in an automobile (28.2 seconds) in 1906.".... they held the record for the fastest steam powered vehicle record untill just a few years ago.
The founders of the company often got tickets for exceding 60Mhp (in reverse even) on production cars... and steam cars are inherently quite and the stanley models used a direct drive meaning no shifting of the transmission leading to a ride similar to what you might have in a prius (CVT transmission)
The primary drawback to the stanley steam car was the requirement that you heat it up for a few minutes before leaving.... apparently White one of their competitor reduce the startup time to about a minute... though the stanley cars were probably simpler and safer in design.
Maybe you missed his point... there are quite a few free and non free C compilers which fairly high compliance to standards. Can the same be said for java. Non Sun/Oracle derived java implementations pretty much don't exist... and the derivations that do exist are just redesigns of the VM which serve to introduce incompatibilities/bugs
Ubuntu is a hackfest off of svn branches of software with custom never upstreamed patches. Yeah.... its *stable* except half of anything you want to do is broken. Personally I'm an ArchLinux user where everything works perfectly at least once a week:-P
The problem with NAFTA is that we don't really monitor or regulate foreign working conditions... this means they can practially use slave labor (for instance sugar cane industry in brazil or sweat shops in china where the average wage is barely enough to scrap by on they literally don't have enough money to even conceive of doing something different)
Proof of the lack of good jobs in Mexico is the constant influx of Mexicans! I don't mind them but I think it would be better for them and us if they could find good jobs in Mexico the only way I can see that happening is ending NAFTA and suggesting they move to an internally stable economy similar to Brazil (ecept without the giant wage gap which is due to the way wages work in Brazil)
Yes I hear it all the time from the IT guys... just a little while ago a couple were complaining about how the servers they were using are slower than the workstations (big freaking deal it is a school afterall no high workload...)
I guess an Acura mechanic voted me down X.x... note that I did qualify my comment with *most* each one that I talked to acutally told me to turn the AV tensioner belt the *wrong* way and talked to guys at different locations even!
Also for computer enginnering java is the language used to teach objects.... I find this rather odd as java is more limited that C++ object wize (no multiple inheritance and a few other things... though that may not be entirely bad)
Orson Scott card as well.... In the chronologially last book a something like this was discovered on a distant planet 3000 years from now:-)...read the first book and around 2500 pages later you will understand:-).
You've got that right.... I already know more about my car than most of the Acura mechanics (which way is the AC belt tensioner threaded for instance) do and i a computer engineering major!
The problem with abstracting code is that it leads to writing extremely inefficent code because the coders know little to nothing about the computer hardware.
You know that Obama put those clouds there, right?
http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp/ionindex.html
Obama: Turn on the super sky microwave.... we don't wan't the jet stream blowing away the clouds
HAARP: Yes mr president no more wind blowing to the gulf... Well make sure of that!
And they wonder why cancer rates are up.
yeah Brazil is probably only second to china for piracy... sure they take down the pirated CD booths every month or six months but they pop right back a week later
And yeah I have lived in Brazil its acutally pretty cool if ignoring the corruption and criminals.
Actually Apple is an arm licensee and designs their own modified ARM chips for the iPhone... etc
the iPhone O/S IS OS X
Also no linux isn't soo bad seriously windows has just as many flaws people are just used to them
you can use layers in Gimps to make animations.... it loads them all into ram though so if you wanna do 10 minutes if animation you would need probably 100Gb ram....
I ran out of ram with only a 640x480 30 sec long animation XD 512mb sure don't get you far anymore
well I would have to disagree there... as many people have already commented your statement isn't entirely correct.
personally I believe life has equal value in the mother and child (as long as it is recognizable as human which in my book is pretty early in the gestation period)
given that life has equal value if it be a mother an unborn child or even a criminal a life should only be ended if that life is causes mortal danger to another and then only after careful consideration to the outcome
I value life and take care that I respect it if you don't value your life don't use legislation to devalue the lives of others against their will
people get tired of the same old same old... but that doesn't mean that they aren't worth arguing over and even fighting for in fact the worst thing that can ever happen is to just give in to the trends look where that got us in the economy look where it is leading us morally
and what exactly did Darwin know about biology... he was a bloomin' psychologist
I can accept that prevalent theory are taught but religion is not something that changes your view of one thing it changes your view of how then entire universe works... and schools should allow for students to learn they way they choose not force one or the other down thier throats
creationist don't disagreed with non-creationists about the laws of nature they disagree about what upholds them
http://www.notionink.com/techspecs.php Its got it all... won't be standard honeycomb but it should run it. Whenever it is released X.x heh...

Interesting that the brain must be able to reroute previous memories as input into unrelated areas... visualizing things for instance.

Into a black hole which would swallow the earth?
Now .... if she took the lawsuit winnings and payed everyone that searches for her name that would be awesome.
Yes and if I searched her name I would find that she is the sort of person I do not want to do any business with.

Its a computer... .... it escapes to the internet it doesn't have to be too smart to figure that out.

what about 'textual' browsers... I will now proceed to wrap my laptop in tin foil and poke a peep hole in it so I can see elinks!
