    People look at plate tectonics like it is happening on a flat plane. The edges between them are not straight. As they move, pressure builds up, and not just on the edges. It has to be released somewhere. The east and gulf coasts were made as the mountains inland eroded. The west coast are collections of bits of land tacked on the craton as it moved around over time. It is not one solid piece, and doesn't act as one.

    GPS is everywhere on Earth except the poles. Where is there no GPS? The problem with GPS on phones is the processing power required to figure out your location. The only place you may lose GPS is in areas with something blocking the signal, like large buildings.

    I fix up old machines for local groups and non-profits, and I install whatever version licence the PC came with. Most often that is now Vista. Don't get many donated machines with Windows 7 licences.
