I just migrated to Ubuntu and my inability to play any kind of movie (yea so maybe they're ones I'll go to hell for looking at anyway) has disappeared. Best resource I found was www.ubuntuguide.org but that's for i386 and I'm running a64. I use my computer for three things: graduate papers, porn, and gaming. Out of the box Ubuntu only lets me do the first so far.
Yea, I read the article. One of teams, which had *two* people one it who worked for Oracle India, released one of the winning tools. However it was mentioned in a child post that the tool was to go from mssql to CA's DB and not from Oracle so maybe they'll keep their job an extra day.

Great. So come school time when everyone is buying notebook paper to store class notes on their government will nail them for a tax because they just might be taking a music class too!
you can't take a quote, edit it to death to remove the point of the sentence, and then call it hype. "consumer" was the key freakin point in that sentence and you just said "haha no. I shall rewrite this to mean something else and then call them liars!"
Can you show me another consumer desktop OS that's as stable, secure, and satisfying? It ain't Linux, Linux isn't 'consumer' enough. No more than a Ford F-850 is a 'consumer' truck.
If there's one thing I enjoy about the Dell machines here at work is that there's a 5 1/4" drive bay for every two inches of height on the front of the case...
So when that day comes to upgrade past the one optical drive I need, I'm golden.
Well I don't see how this is causing any stress in my life other than the barrage of news stories it's caused on/. But this will end when IBM wins the suit and countersues. IBM is dragging this out in their own ways because they have to make damn sure SCO has no grounds for an appeal or a mistrial. If they have those opportunities they can continue to drag out the court cases. If IBM shuts them down completely their countersuit will be in the bag and there will no longer be a light at the end of the tunnel for SCO.
I actually did it with my roommates in college. The ones that were high though the coincidence was unbelievable.
The sober ones were left wondering why we were watching a TV with no sound to a music track that was off beat. I only remember two scenes where I was like "wow, that's dead on." But I bet any Vin Diesel movie over a Metallica CD would probably do the same thing.
Depending on the software it hardly matters if you're using either of them at the same time. A lot of software licenses only permit one installation on one machine. So the "but I can only use one at a time" defesne fails.
Either way you're screwed. Might as well just burn the evidence.
I guess technically, I mispoke. Since it's not the government charging for this but it looks like (from the article) the government is putting in place a sponsored private monopoly to run the network they desire. In return the private company can charge a local government approved price.
painless transition?

I do love the AC that tried to post as me though.
Two of those contestants worked for Oracle... ...and released a tool to ease migration from Oracle to CA's database.
Boy I hope Oracle doesn't hear about this.
You mean you haven't seen the new version of Aqua?
You're sooo 1Q 2005.
We sold it to you?
:-)
Well then, whenever you'd like to start paying us back you just let us know.
hahahhah you're my fuckin hero

Uh, dude, you can't do that.

holy hell man did you miss my joke or what.

Correct, but what they wanted in the beginning was most likely to force IBM to buy them out. IBM has instead chosen to make an example of them.
That's what SCO wants to happen because it makes SCO a piss load of money. That's why IBM isn't doing it.

69. A system of claim 68, wherein the user watches the Wizard of Oz while listening to Dark Side of the Moon.
Or was it The Wall that all the potheads listened to while watching that movie.
how the hell did that get modified flamebait?
That's going to be one hell of a return on investment for him.
where I'm from there are two appropriate good-bye sayings.. the nice one
"Y'all come on back now ye'hear!"
or the mean one..
"GIT!"
I most certainly enjoyed the read, they didn't get that indepth in ECON200/201 in college.
Boy howdy, those 20% profit margins sure are tough!

Well, access to the Internet isn't a public utility. Life without it is completely feasible. Life with just email is no big deal at all.
HAhaha no dumbass. We're against whatever we don't like and for whatever we do like. But only on daily whims.
I still called the cops.
