It's too horific to describe some of the things that have happened to women who've had the misfortune to have gotten pregnant after having a child,
More proof that people are stupid.
When the repercussions of getting pregnant a second time are made BLATENTLY OBVIOUS, anyone who still goes and purposefully[1] gets pregnant a second time is an idiot.
If people were not so stupid, many less problems would exist!
An example of further stupidity:
Furthermore, it is the U.S. government's view that the right to "found a family" is protected under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Eating is also a fundamental right, and I'd say it sure as hell trumps the right to have more children!
Or to put it more bluntly:
Idiots having kids --> Others starving
[1]: If a woman is raped, simply kill the accused rapist, let said woman have the baby. Unfortunately humans are such absolute pricks that women would lie and say that they got raped, just to have another baby....
Page scrolling in FF2 in journals is really slow with the new comment system turned on.
All in all, seems like a fairly good release. A bit slower here and there though, but pages appear even faster than before. Well that could very well be a UI illusion, but whatever, it seems to work.:)
I am CS, but I like LEDs, so here is what I know about pulsing them...
LEDs are pulsed for a variety of reasons. Altering brightness is one of them, it is simple to vary the brightness of an LED by pulsing it at different frequencies.
Heat is an other one, if an LED is being over driven, pulsing it can help lengthen the LEDs life span.
Pulsing also reduces power consumption (only an issue if running from batteries really...)
Really well done remote folders are a blessing. Make them usable both with SFTP (for the Unix folk) and whatever folder sharing system is best for Windows that works over the internet.
(Safeco I am not sure about the exact length of, but I remember it was somethign decent)
US Government jobs are kind of weird. From here. Fathers are allowed to use their paid sick leave for paternity leave, but it a bit less than a month apparnetly. Someone tried to amend the law to give fathers ~6 weeks paid leave and another 6 unpaid, but of course that did not go over well.
According to BLS though, yah, it does seem rare. Only 7% of companies in 2000 offered it at all.... dicks.
Hmm, guess I am just spoiled by big name companies who come to my college and have flashy presentations showing off how good their benefits are! ^_^ Of course they then throw all our resumes in the trash, making one wonder why they bothered with the trip in the first place....
Yes, the official Google toolbar. It has not been updated for almost a year (well maybe it was updated 3 months ago? About when I gave up checking on it for updates...), and if anybody at Google bothered to USE it.... well I guess Google does the same thing MS does and gives all devs tricked out machines so they don't notice when us poor regular users have issues with 2 GB of RAM being used up.
I used to think that FF had memory leaks (and I also have a Toshiba Portege Tablet PC!), but it all turned out to be due to plugins.
Google's plugin for FireFox is the worst offender, but others do it as well.
This add-on detects a lot of leaks, but only of one particular type. It can give you a good idea if you have a plugin that is leaking emmensly though (as the Google plugin does...)
I *love* the Google plugin's features, but it leaks memory so fast... It does a damn good job of giving FF a bad name though!
Yah, that is about what I would say. But I have heard others claim that children can be fooled with the "hide it behind your back" trick up until 3 years old...
I personally think that those people just did all their clinical studies on very "slow" children...
Lovely quote about interfaces though.:) I'll have to remember that one.
He's also incapable of comprehending that something exists outside of his direct perception. If he cannot see a person (or an object) it doesn't exist
I heard this quote before.
So I decided to go and test it.
My GF had a 2.5yr old nephew. I asked him to go get something from another room. If what people said was true, he wouldn't know WTF I was talking about.
He went and got it.
I also was told that "If you hide something behind your back, out of sight, the baby won't know what happened to it."
Bull, he walked around behind me and got the toy out of my hand.
I wonder if the people who write these things actually HAVE kids. Or if they do have kids, if the kids are all mentally retarded...
I use IE at home, and I still encounter sites that alert me "You must have IE6 or Firefox to browse this site!"....
Oh also I have a number of games that rely upon being able to do not so secure things on locally stored web pages that IE7 prohibits, and I cannot play those games at all now!
It is quite useful, and I have used it in the past.
Upon install, it ASKS YOU if you want the advertisements installed.
You also have the option to purchase the program. Given how much arse it kicks, I think that this is a fair trade.
The author has changed sponser programs numerous times in an attempt to find one who doesn't lie about their sponsorship program. You can all guess how well that has gone over.
The irony of this all IS this though:
Messenger Plus got started as a way to remove the banner ad from MSN Messenger.
MS contacted him and asked him not to do that any more.
It doesn't do that any more.
It now ships with additional banners though.
Thus making the entire program useless!:-p
If you check out the Messenger Plus website, it gives a link to www.mess.be which does all what Messenger Plus used to do, but for free, and then some more as well.

If you're only interested in scanning the major plot details, you're missing the point of most books.
As I said, it depends on why I am reading the book. If I need to extract key bits of information from the text, then skipping over detail can be useful.
Also, some authors think they are better at scenic description than they really are...
I think they removed it from the normal windows distro back in win2K though. -nB

"Where's Waldo?" doesn't count.
"Where's Waldo" takes me significantly longer than 30 seconds...
Using Full Reading I am able to choose my pace of reading. If I just need to acquire base plot elements, most of the fluffy English can be skipped.
ex:
The green leafs slowly seeped up the bloodfrom the wound in John's chestturning them a dramatic color of red.
Horrid prose aside.... it should get the point across. A person can learn to skip over the unnecessary details. Of course if I am reading a book for my own enjoyment, I tend to read it all, but if I need to just extract the details, 30 seconds per page suffices just fine.
I have seen people who can read (and find errors in!) a full 8.5 x 11, 10pt font, page of text in less than 15 seconds. That darn nearly scared me.

Pricks ruin it for everyone.
Hey now, I support forced abortions.
;)
And when the democrats get back in power, I'd support them performing whole sale political executions as well!
(serious on the first one, mostly joking on the second...)
Never had to worry about nicks, cuts, or anything else like that.
Styptic pencil? What for.
Hey that isn't a bad price for that TV there....
Seems like some 3rd party candidates need to read this guide, rise to the challenge, and get 70% of the vote.
Now that would be a mandate for change!
Whose site just got /.'d....

Make one of these that works for X-Rays.
Wrap a gun in it, put in carry on bags.
Pass right on through the machine, nothing noticed.

Paternity leave is for men normally. :-D I have seen a fair number of companies that offer at least 1 month paternity leave, some offer 2+
This is BS, most good sized companies give paternityleave.
My visual spatial skills are so poor, I will likely think that there is more water in the tall cup than in the short cup.
