  1. Re:Screen too small on Dell Reveals Specs For the Looking Glass Tablet · · Score: 1

I figured part of the reason for the 10" widescreen was to be pretty close to 8.5x11 erring on the size of smaller. That is one of the things I like about that size. That and that it allowed touch typing (albeit not the most comfortably with it being a bit squashed and no give to the virtual keys)

Maybe 2012 should have a Shakespeare one to end just before worldcon. My vote, MacBeth. I would try out if I spoke Klingonese.

I love the professional work he does. There does seem to be allot of FUD attached to his person mainly due to people wanting to discredit him. I find people who believe it do not look deeply into whatever issue is involved.

I would like to add that elections are very expensive endeavours. E-voting does have some cost cutting potential if we can find something that is reliable, standard, open source, tamperproof, etc. I actually do not understand why primaries are paid for with public funds (outside of the occasional non party picking thing added to it like amendments or filling a vacancy).

Yes and id cards fail if they are lost or damaged. Biometrics is fine as long as it is used properly. It should be used like an id. By and large when you use your drivers license a human is taking a look at it. Similarly there should be a human in the chain for any biometric check (invalidating things like the gummi). The biometrics should get updated on a regular basis like a drivers license or state id and you should be able to get new ones taken if the the old ones are damaged. Also face and voice recognition are not necessarily so easily damaged (sick or grow a beard). Many rely on factors that are not so easily visible in a human type of way. So for day to day face and voice are used with a human present and you are good. If you have problems you go down to the secretary of states office and use your retinal and fingerprint to identify and then redo your voice and face (in front of a human of course). These systems can work but they are just a convenience (no wallet needed) not a way of removing humans from the equation.

I use firefox for my real browser, but am forced to use ie for a variety of state government and business sites that have dire warning about using anything but Internet explorer. Of course these apps have too big a consequence to me individually if they do not function so I fire it up for that. Add to that I keep IE, chrome, and safari as one off browsers for quick searches. So while I am working in firefox with the tv on and I decide I want to search something that came up in the news real quick I go load IE or whatever since it is not important. Also my wife would likely still be using IE, but I introduced her to firefox and she never turned back. Neither one of us care about browser ranks or tests or whatnot. We just care that it does what we want it to and no more.
