Drak, you should start following E3 more closely. Nintendo's been getting their ass handed to them. Nintendo's big stories out of E3:
    1. Try harder to force the GBA-GC connector down people's throats.
    2. Yay, we paid EA not to abandon the GC!
    3. We're working on a successor to the GC which will be out in 2005, but really, we're still focused on the GC. Seriously.
    4. You're not gonna see Mario shooting hookers, but hey, we're not a kiddie console!
    5. Sure, other consoles besides the GameCube might be getting MGS *3*, but screw that, wouldn't you rather play a remake of the MGS 1?
    6. And if you're still itching for a remake after RE and MGS1, we're also gonna remake...wait for it...PAC-MAN!!
    7. We've got a brand new game based on Star Wars eps. 4-6!

I've got a Cube of my own, and I'm seriously looking forward to F-Zero, Super Monkey Ball 3, and yes, even Mario Kart (tho' it should be online, dammit), but I'm not the only person who's looked at Nintendo's performance so far at this year's E3 and thought, "Worst of Show, by far."

Unskilled users are the only people who would leave themselves open to such holes, so why suggest that they switch and have to learn a whole new system only to find out that the exact same holes are there?

Time to update your figures, bucko. Xbox has outsold the GameCube by 570,000 units in the US, and by 70,000 just in the last month. The Xbox's Japanese sales might be very shitty, but it has at least outsold the PS One there this year (267,800 to 201,900).

From NPD's October US numbers at http://mail.chartermi.net/~spartan85/NPD_UBS.pdf:

Sales of Xbox hardware (239,000 units) were up 38% month over month, as the Sega bundle clearly had a positive impact on sales. GameCube hardware sales (169,000 units) were disappointing, flat from September, as new Nintendo Software ( StarFox, Mario Party 4) did not spur consumers to buy hardware. Game Boy Advance hardware (315,000 units) grew 12% month over month and 8% year over year. Probably offsetting GBA is the fact that PlayStation One sales continue to be inexplicably strong. The system, which sells for $50, saw its hardware unit sales increase 43% to 134,000 units in October. Year-to-date, PlayStation One sales are actually ahead of GameCube (1.45 million versus 1.26 million).
