    IA64 is not desighned to be 64bit totaly but expanderable easyly

    what this says to me is, to get press on server stuff so K7 doesn't !?

    they are still signifactly tweaking the compiler !!

    the actual silicon is not the hard part its the software IE the compiler

    IA64 needs a *GOOD* compiler to even compete with alphas but a realy good compiler (years off) would kill an alpha at the same clockrate HP are doing TRIMERAN and many supercomputer centers have done research on how VLIW (sorry EPIC) work and could be better

    ok yes he got alot right which he should be comended for !

    why although was it not made clear the pressures that M$ is under.

    windows is becomeing the expensive part of a sub $500 machine

    win2000 interface has serious drawbacks

    the vunerbility because people discovering the bugs dont tell or fix them

    for years you did a benchmark for SMP and Sequent came out top BY A LONG WAY

    go look up the byte stuff on this

    seems they got taken over by everybody else tho

    err no sun make sure that they get into uni's so people know their hardware

    SGI make you pay and well they should if you want supercomputers get a SGI

    ok their software is top notch you are just no familair with it thats all a SGI user can walk up to it and expect it to be the same

    you have to learn a bit

    yes what you said was right

    I like the BSD stuff becuase it is creaky old code that many people have worked on and siad thats wrong I can do better and done it NT suffers from the same DOS attacks that BSD did *years* ago

    open systems share developments bsd is open to a degree and has reckoned by the industry @ large THE stack to die for in terms of security and speed I know because I read the stuff that comes from HP and digital two firms that "engineer" products

    if you don't know what it means ask someone who deals with teaching english.

    I can speak chinese fine.

    basically it is a disability that means I have trouble spelling and formulating sentances (although like other deletics I am good at maths ,problem solveing and sports)

    yes thats what My isp uses and look Im useing windoze !

    just because you dont like it does it mean that you wont use it work on it ?

    if so you are loseing out of experances that the rest of use are haveing I use win2000 (dev work) and NT as well as HP-UX solaris and IRIX got a problem talk to IT surport

    you want it fast

    !!!! you dont want NT unless your hardware can get round the prob


    SGI is where its @ people

    all the rest are like patchs and fudges to make linux do this or research for the future which is a good thing.

    but SGI do this for a liveing

    well what can I say !

    I have heard that someone had a driver up and running for some board ! I was invetigating it for software and did not take much notice sorry.

    isn't it a standard so writeing software should be fairly easy (but complex in actual fact)

    there was a group of people wantng to develope a card which was GPL design I think!
    please I also would like to know more

    can do this as the connection to the SGI monitor is a propriatry interface (god I cant spell) this mean although it is open it is not a VESA standard like the TNT2 claims to be so you need a speail graphics card No9 it is then

    VESA fudged the digital interface and it will take a while to get venders surporting it as they chose a solution wich was hard to get working while the laptop people where saying HEY look at this to all the venders so hope and prey that nVidia did the right thing and went for VESA

    what about their PA-RISC machines ??

    Alan cox has a machine in his study and belive me HP-UX sucks as a user O/S

    not bad as a server tho

    come on HP sort it out I would love to see what happens when they sort out a compiler for these PA-RISC machine 450MHz and 64 bit with prediction like IA64

    do it HP crush M$ and sort out linux
    HP is one of the BIG boys and they all seem to go to HP for their research when it all goes pear

    like with intel and IA-64

    ah well in for a long wait but go to Trimaran to see what compilers should be doing !

    intel has woken up because they have this in their labs for a V long time !

    the idea that they could sort out unix world by just giveing out some of their tecnology and generate good press

    what we need is for IA-64 stuff to be sorted out for instance the trimeran could be ported over to IA-64 it would help alot for ol gcc

    and how about sorting out floating point with 3d now or streaming instructions ???

    ah well good move well done Intel

    OK yes bob is wrong on a couple of things

    first lets see what M$ has in store for direct X

    linux needs to sort out OpenGL NOW!!!!!

    games are where desktop is

    word processing is cool but people dont care as long as it formats it the way they like (EASY to USE)

    can you say APPLE

    Linux is server software same with any unix it is made to dev on

    ah well bob you just lost alot of cred

    I have a simular problem yes I wont be buying these cams unless they work with Linux or other free unix and has a fairly good refresh rate

    so the question is WHAT WORKS ??

    is there a web page or something you mention a developer doing some work their webpage is? or email or anything
