yes I'm a customer and use a dedicated server at a french hosting company to watch youtube. Without it it's unusable because of buffering, with it a 720p video downloads way faster than necessary.
Stopping at the asteroid would probably take much more fuel than going all the way to Mars. Because stopping at Mars is free thanks to it having an atmosphere that can slow the ship down.
You know what's even faster ? Microwave travelling in long tunnels travelling straight between points on the surface of earth.
I'm sure some of these guys are considering it!
If they shovel shit to their customers, I suspect they won't do very well. The desktop gaming crowd won't evaporate overnight, and I suspect they'll prefer buying the corridor FPS of the day which has more eyecandy on powerful boxes rather than the shit looking one.
If third party steam box exists with better hardware, these developers will want to ensure their game look better on them, or lose sales to competing games who will.
They can't turn the ship around and go back. It's not star trek. They'd know that once they are on their way they have to go to mars before they can come back somehow.
And yet Intel has a demo of a raytraced (or maybe raycasted ?) Wolfenstein game. So ovviously there's a middle ground between raster graphics and OMG 2 hours per frame! Renders.
No upgrading yet, wait for Crysis 4. It should be running on the PSBox4 and hopefully this will give some freedom to the dev to do something as good looking as Crysis 1.
Leave a country that earn them 1 billion? I think that wouldn't be in their best interest, I think they'll manage to survive somehow even if they have to actually pay taxes.
Am I the only one seeing this as an excuse to favor india's telecom companies without looking too protectionist?
Nothing a good patriotic dose of X-Rays can't detect. Just turn the dial to 11!

Then you head to the Pirate Bay and rightfully download the game you lost, without an hint of guilt.

Maybe their AI can also design the NPC's AI in game too. It sure couldn't do a worse job than the guys who wrote Deus ex HR or Hitman Absolution !

Then you just hope the cost of transport makes it uncompetitive to build products in China to sell in the US. With the oil peak it might work.

Quick, you must simply tell this to the Skylon team. These poor guys have been working for years on something that's doomed to fail!
