You know things are going bad when people start talking about Python with words like "the IT word" and apparently wishing for developers to become dull suit-wearing warm bodies.
EA gets a low, low monthly bill. It's not like running statistics on a big spreadsheet of all the cities can cost a lot of money. Their server software was probably buggy, or they very much underestimated launch traffic.
But think about it: they can run a handful of servers for 4 years and no, there's no reason for it to be that expensive, but then they can shut down Sim City 5 shortly after Sim City 6 is about to be released, forcing everyone to buy the new one. I think this is valuable for them.
Haha, very funny. Women and children and poor joes trapped in a shitty police state and then being nuked into ashes. Fucking hilarious, according to slashdot moderation at least.
You're implying they are competent and can design an architecture that can grow and shrink transparently.
For all we know their very well could be a dozen servers and no way to move player accounts and cities between them.
treat - educated - people like grown ups and this happens.
Not sure about brainwashed, bread-and-circus masses raised in a country where the elites do their darnest to destroy public eductation.
Arrested because it's a "fusion" thing? What's the matter if it produces the same level of energy as a petrol generator? It's not like they can turn it into a H-bomb.
Maybe NASA will let other scientists play with it to prove it's not a scam, unlike Rosi's device. We don't even hear about that one anymore, where's the mass produced fusion generator for every home ?
Servers are what's used to host the interweb, right? That thing were people can communicate between each other instead of watching TV news? Good ridance then! That senator probably wouldn't lost any sleep if somebody were to push the OFF switch of the internet.
And then again, there must be some thruster that can levitates things in the air, or else the aliens and their flying saucers wouldn't visit the earth all the time. Since it exists, we are bound to discover the technology someday.
You forgot to add 10$ or less AAA games during sales that make most of your points minor drawbacks.
I bet PSBox4 games will continue to be 70$. That's what I pay when I get 15 games off steam during the holidays in packs for a whole publisher.
How about america ? I live in France but I see friends from the US complaining about their network connections every day, getting disconnected several time a day.

Since those are 3D chips, does that mean Apple's price for those RAM will be multiplied by 8 instead of 2?
Probably as much as "Institite".
A DB engine that happilly destroy your data when you change a column's precision is lame, yes. MySQL is a toy.
