I agree that you're not trolling, but I fail to see how you're defending XP.
I won't even touch the viruses and malware = popularity. It has to do with security and permissions, not popularity.
You can't really defend a system by stating that it needs to be changed.
For example, I could say:
First: In OS X you don't need to change the shell. The OS doesn't look like it was designed by FisherPrice
Second: Safari is awesome, but you can also use Firefox
Thirdly: Dock keeps your applications handy.
Fourthly: BSD, Apache, Xcode, BSD, and let's not forget BSD are all free, included, and easy to use. (Takes one click to start a secure, popular webserver.)
The short answer is "Yes!" However our correspondant has learned that upon ariving there, Mr. Spock was overheard saying "What the fuck is wrong with these people?"
Captain Kirk, on the other hand could not be reached, as he was getting smashed with Scotty and Bones at a local hockey bar.
But it is as pleasing to use as a sandpaper toilet seat and salty toilet paper.

It would be nice if someone paid for being overzealous, but it's not gonna happen. For the most part people don't even care to listen to the news of hundreds of thousands of identities being stolen, I doubt they will care much on the legality of shutting down a server they understand nothing about.
Once again, it seems that people in the trench have to bend over and take it...

Thanks, Those were my original suspicions, but since the author made it seem as if somehow we had the right to be distributing such material, I though I was wrong.
So basically we're here to cry because we got (perhaps rightfully) kicked in the nuts.

Does it make a difference if the material is copyrighted? Or are live performances automatically free of copyright?
I think the parent was a troll man. pfft... "I don't know how the things have changed in the last few years..". He could take a look at OS X, on Apple's website. (Complete with cool and exciting new movies.)
are you using the WASD keys or the arrow keys? make sure to use WASD, it improves comfortability, but you're right, it still doesn't match the comfort of console-style controller.
also, I believe that logitech makes some controllers for the PC. yup, they sure do.
Thanx for your answers lurker, i'm glad someone out there knows how to admin windows boxes. I run my webserver and ssh fileserver on os X, so it surprised me to se a mention of a firewall in SP1.
I would almost agree with you about "deserves what they get" but it is too harsh.
There are many a small business (in the States) that could set up their own light use webserver without having to worry about hiring a professional administrator.
I think it is irresponsible of Microsoft not to provide them with basic tools to run a simple Web server for example.
except of course that we're not arguing the same points. you claim that a 299 dell box comes loaded with usable software, whereas i claim that it does not.
i'm not a genius, so there's no need for patronizing
1.)you're right. how easy is it for an average user to install cron-like system, a perl interpreter, or a webserver on a windows box? just because they're available for free, doesn't mean they're easy to use
2.) so what happens when a user emails someone else a word perfect document? "eerr, chief i've got word on my computer, will you save your document as.doc"? again it's there, but so is my tailbone.
3.) useability.
299 stock dell should not be used as a viable alternative to a 499 stock minimac.
windows and word perfect are as useful as an 83 chevy monte carlo with a tape deck. sure it'll probably get you from A to B, and let you listen to your own mixes, but for a little bit extra you can get a nice reliable compact car that can run for years without critical monthly patches.
does word perfect even save files defaultly as.doc?
so in summary of your own posting:
first: change the way it looks
second: change the browser
third: get a new dock

You think that's bad. I just got a resume with an applicant's SSN on it.
So now I know their name, address, phone, SSN, previous employment history, hobbies and habits.
Hmm, coincidentaly due to a spelling error, I just thought of a great interview question:
Would you say you're an applican, or an applican't?
oh crap, now i feel like a dumbass.
I see that apache.leakage.org is on the list of misconfigured servers.
I didn't think that was possible;)

OK, I am not a Windows Server 2003 admin, but is it just me, or is it really odd that Microsoft is just now including a firewall?
