  1. Re:No way! on Opera's CEO to Swim From Norway to the USA · · Score: 4, Funny

    Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
    The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying:
    Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.

    Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green,
    Can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war.
    We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day
    Despite of all your losing.

  2. Not Free, but might help on OSS Library Management Solutions? · · Score: 3, Informative

The program we use is Innovative Millenium. While it is not free, it does run natively on OS X clients. It is Java Based and seems to work well.
We've just had the 15th anniversary of the system, so it has been a good decision for us, by not having to change databases as the collection grew.

I don't think it's a matter of innovation. Adobe would have been quite screwed if MS started giving out discounted or free copies of Macromedia away.

Sure, Macromedia suite doesn't replace CS (although in the future it might have), but it's another hurdle Adobe would have to jump over to get onto a user's desktop.

No one seems to be talking about benefits of virtual folders for all of us pr0n lovers, so I'll take a second.

Instead of arranging your "goodstuff" or "system" directory into various subdirectories like: asians, boobs, matures, anime, pics etc., and knowing that some asians belong into both boobs and matures, and that some pics can go either into anime or pics, you can now just have smart folders that organize stuff based on conditions:

Busty AND Asian NOT Mature for example, or any other myriad of combinations that will help your collection stay useful.

The same principle can also be applied to other situations, like organizing your work files, ie. by project only, or by project AND sender, etc.

I generally do not reply to ACs, but you make good points.
However, there are a few things I'd like to say:
Mods need to learn the difference between a flamebait and troll. If they don't then they're dilluting both categories. They need to look up some fine examples of trolling to learn the difference.

Just because they don't find it funny, doesn't mean that it's an automatic troll. Other valid options are flamebait, offtopic, or overrated.

I don't really care one way or the other, but kids are way too liberal with their "troll" modpoints. Luckily that's what metamodding is for.

Mac gaming pretty much sucks, but it is getting better. Enemy Territory just came out (and it's sweet), and Close Combat: first to fight is coming out about a week before the windows version, but anyone trying to prove that a Mac is a viable gaming platform, is, in my opinion, wrong.
