I only partly jest, I know such a thing is damn near impossible to actually do, but in our Mac shop, such things are trivial. With one click of the mouse we enable spotlight searching on our Leopard AFP server and bam... all the clients have almost instantaneous search access to their docs.
So the competition has millions of devices in user's hands, a unified and attractive app store, and an established ecosystem? (And that's even ignoring the music juggernaut on the other side of the coin.)
Which competition is even close to this kind of market? Not trolling, not flaming, just asking.
Seems like everyone nowadays is granted a writing/analyst position if they can predict the fall of apple, or gloat about the upcoming features coming from microsoft. (I'm also not saying that competition is bad, just that Apple right now doesn't face any coherent competition. Take Palm Pre as an example... Different hardware models (for sprint and verizon networks), crashy app store, lack of apps, web-based apps, lack of actual customers, and worst of all, predicted shortages at introduction. WhoTF decided it would be a good idea to have that kind of a release against the upcoming iPhone v3?)
For me, the change is working out great. for one, the man is a 180 degree opposite of the mumbling cowboy that Bush was. so the rest of the world looks at us in a better light. As far as I'm concerned, he's already fulfilled half of his mandate just by being elected.
And if the health care change happens, he will have fulfilled all of it. So yes, change is working out well for some of us.
Honestly, who bases a whole product line on a "faking out" feature. I'm no fan of DRM, and wish iTunes was more open to other devices, but to publish a whole iPhone "killer" on a kludge is just asking for trouble.
WTF are consumers going to do when Apple pushes an update that breaks this (intentionally, or not) and all of a sudden this marvelous sync stops working?
Like I said before, it will be sweet, groundbreaking, worth every penny and several hundred dollars more than a conventional netbook. So it will not be a netbook competitor at all.
No, the parent is right. It is easier to believe the impossible, than the improbable.
For things like FTL, transporters, artificial gravity, basically we throw everything out of the window. Maybe it's a new technology that we don't comprehend.
But for the things like the drill falling/floating, well you have to assume some basic level of gravity that behaves the same as in our universe.
That is why, on Lost, for example, I'll accept a magical island, a magical smoking monster, but I can't accept that taking out a core of a nuke and exploding it will still provide a viable nuclear reaction, rather than just split it into shards of metal.
You may be trying to be sarcastic, but you are right. Avid, running on the shittiest OS on the planet (XP), though capable in theory, is a bastardized idea of what avid running on dedicated video processing hardware is. So yes, those with a clue in video editing use tools which give them more stability than the OS whose most recognizable feature is a BSOD.
Not for everyone, but my honda gets 35 + mpg. I put in 20 bucks a month of gas into it, and about 20 into the car, for taking the kids to school, and stormy days. Rideable 65-80% of the year in midwest. (Depending on your tolerance for cold.) My "commute" is only about 7 miles each way.
Firstly, let's hang up the old rumor mill and improve the S/N ratio. Secondly, roughlydrafted.com has a pretty insight into why this is probably not going to happen.
I understand that there is no such thing as truly clean coal, but what is so bad about trying to produce cleaner coal for electricity generation? Yes I do support nuclear, but we are pretty efficient at digging up and combusting coal. Why not work harder to scrub it better and deliver more electricity for the plug in hybrids?
YouTube is like the web from 90ies... Everybody's dog was on there.. Try to find a music video? Well, you'll get 4000 videos dealing with viagra, terrorists, preteen girls, some dopey dudes and everything else EXCEPT for the video you were looking for. I know that goog may not have the rights to the aforementioned music video, but it's fscking misleading and a waste of my time.
I know that there is some good stuff out there and there is a good idea behind it, but navigating through the crap, poorly edited, and inappropriate music on there takes too much time. And why does every fscking teen think that blasting "Disturbed" is a valid soundtrack to every conceivable situation that can be recorded?

Comrade, we need your documents detailing when was the last time your RDF passed inspection.
No Phone In The Universe. EVER.
no phone in the history of the universe has had a front facing video camera, and Apple itself of course doesn't have the software to utilize it.
Seriously. At this point, I think they'll release it in next rev. and charge an extra 200 for it.

There are a few of us fortunate to work in Mac shops. :)

I don't understand, are you saying he's a latina, and not a white male?

Perhaps he simply wanted to add some treble to his post?

capability like PowerPC?
You should have your RDF receptor re-calibrated, friend.
PowerPC has no capability! Intel is 32 X faster!!!
Could it sniff out explosives, so we could detect roadside bombs, and not have to squirt toothpaste into baggies at airports?
they're the Opera of Linux.
Really nice, and the reason why some of us experimented with leaving the conventional, but then dumped for a new hotter gal.
There are ssh apps for it. Some of them are even free I believe.

You realize that 90% of the windows users agree with pretty much all of your points.
Siwa Oasis?
Back in my day, we just pumped water from one end of the oasis to another.
The germans would put up a heck of a fight though, at the tunnel exits.
Thanks, Wolf:ET...
Pfft... call me when one of the big-wigs endorses it, not their secretary.

Wait, wait, I know this one!

It's useful to see how well it recognizes the hardware.
